That's a lot of ifs don't you think? That's all I'm saying, it's a long shot. Call a spade a spade. You're entitled to your opinion.

Playing with Chromiak? I don't know how much they know each other. Short of playing U18 Worlds together for a few seasons what's their playing history? Dvorsky's been in Sweden since 2018-19. Never on the same club team as far as I can tell and I'm not farmiliar enough with minor hockey system in Slovakia to know the answer. Two seasons of U18 together. That's what I see. Nice to be on the same team as someone from the same country, who speaks the same language as you. I'll give you that. But how much does that weigh in? They were born in city's 2 hours away from one another. You going to play in Europe because a kid from North Bay plays there when you can play in Canada or a men's league here? Reverse the situation.

How do you know Dvorsky doesn't want a pro paycheck? He would make $10,500 playing major junior with an ELC as per the NHL CBA. Are you willing to take a pay cut in your line of work? I am assuming that playing pro hockey in Allsvenskan pays more then this. I really don't know. But That's what we're asking this kid to do.

I'm not saying he won't come. I'm just expecting him not to, and i really think we should all be thinking this way, but that's out of my control. Too many ifs. I'd be pleasantly surprised if he ever reports and I'd prefer to be surprised and happy then dissapointed.

Very clearly the odds are against him playing major junior. I have simply stated what needs to go right and there is a lot that has to happen. My issue here is the pro paycheck. If an NHL team signs you and thinks its best for prospect development purposes to play junior instead of with men, the prospect is going to junior if the prospects advisors have their best interest at heart. Sacrifice money now to make bigger professional gains later. It has worked for many players before. The other money first approach usually sets the player back, Filatov and Tuomaala are prime examples of players who sorely needed the major junior development time. My gut feeling here is that Dvorsky wants to be an NHL player first and he will play wherever his drafting team wants him to. My guess is that he will at least start in the AHL and proceed from there.

Absolutely agree. Full circle to my original comment stating that it's 100% dependent on what the team that drafts him wants. The team's influence on the kid is really the only determining factor and is the only realistic way that he reports. Playing with Chromiak or playing a bigger role here than against men is pretty irrelevant and I find it sounds like we are trying to convince ourselves that these are determining factors. I get what you mean about the pro contract.

Not irrelevant to his new NHL team.

Playing with Chromiak is relevant to his NHL team? How?

Bigger role? They can have him play any role they want in the AHL. Hell, they can assign him to the Chicago Steel of the USHL who has his rights. They don't need the Sudbury Wolves.

I hope Montreal drafts him! At least they have a history of wanting to send euros to Canadian major junior. What other NHL teams have this history(honest question)?

Ok I agree with you that playing with Chromiack isn’t all that relevant, more to make transition more comfortable. But #1 PP, Pk and playing with Q and Goyette will be special. Being coached by a former President Cup NHL can’t hurt either. But I understand the other options as well. As an agent and as an NHL team I would use caution when putting 18-19 year olds in AHL. Some are physically capable to endure and succeed, but I think of Tyson Foerster who went there as a 19year old and broke his collar bone and missed most of the season. Devorsky is super talented but not overly big or thick (from what I see on TV). Injuries like Foerster’s could be just bad luck or a fluke but the AHL is a different animal. Probably why Montreal optioned Mesar to Kitchener last season….time will tell. I know the odds of Devorsky reporting are very slim but I have an odd feeling it could and should happen….

Dvorsky is listed at 6’1” 201 lbs; he might have to shed 5-10 lbs to be average size. He is not a mature man though, I’m sure the drafting team will have seen results of physicals and do their own physicals, and watch how he fares against professional men before placing him full time in the AHL. But at his size and 9-12 draft ranking, he would have to be considered a project to see him in the OHL imo.

Montreal, in addition to Winnipeg are the two I am aware of with a history of doing this. Buffalo too to some (limited) extent, lately, they've preferred to assign their guys to the AHL and they have a strong prospect crew there so they'd likely put Dvorsky there as well.

Arizona wouldn't as they would then have to pay Dvorsky, and they're very budget conscious, Ottawa has pushed for players to leave the NCAA to play in the CHL, but no European history. Vancouver leaves their guys in Europe, they've had great success that way, Detroit assigns to the AHL, Columbus is a big believer in the Euro system, but lately has pushed guys to leave the NCAA/Europe for the AHL, Philadelphia has used the AHL, Chicago as well.

That largely covers the basement teams, so the best hope is 100% Montreal.

At the end of the day, as a projected first-round NHL pick, the Wolves can keep his rights, while still drafting another player in the first round of the import draft.Let's see if they can land another big fish on July 5th

Those Pete’s..,,.. hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t wanna work…. This is how a GM puts a team together, character in spades and something Sparky Papineau does not have nor how to look for it. Off to Kamloops….

Congrats to the Pete’s team and the entire organization, well deserved. I’m so happy Wilson wasn’t fired mid-season as many Pete’s fans on here suggested. I’m most happy for him and all players. Now stay on the bandwagon and bring home the Mem Cup!!!

And he still has his job. Your inside knowledge is not credible.

Well, ready-set-go! Trade window opens June 1st. Put your GM Hat on and make your moves. Let’s hear it…which OAs do you keep? Are we looking for a proven tender? Can we add to our draft cupboard?

Really feel McCallum may ask for a trade after the embarrassing benching, hopefully not, would be a big loss

I think Krawchuk showed well enough last season that I'm comfortable giving him the net for October and seeing what he can do. Having said that, if there is a good deal for a quality net minder in the off-season then pull the trigger.

Don’t forget Gaulton and Bjorn…
