That's a lot of ifs don't you think? That's all I'm saying, it's a long shot. Call a spade a spade. You're entitled to your opinion.
Playing with Chromiak? I don't know how much they know each other. Short of playing U18 Worlds together for a few seasons what's their playing history? Dvorsky's been in Sweden since 2018-19. Never on the same club team as far as I can tell and I'm not farmiliar enough with minor hockey system in Slovakia to know the answer. Two seasons of U18 together. That's what I see. Nice to be on the same team as someone from the same country, who speaks the same language as you. I'll give you that. But how much does that weigh in? They were born in city's 2 hours away from one another. You going to play in Europe because a kid from North Bay plays there when you can play in Canada or a men's league here? Reverse the situation.
How do you know Dvorsky doesn't want a pro paycheck? He would make $10,500 playing major junior with an ELC as per the NHL CBA. Are you willing to take a pay cut in your line of work? I am assuming that playing pro hockey in Allsvenskan pays more then this. I really don't know. But That's what we're asking this kid to do.
I'm not saying he won't come. I'm just expecting him not to, and i really think we should all be thinking this way, but that's out of my control. Too many ifs. I'd be pleasantly surprised if he ever reports and I'd prefer to be surprised and happy then dissapointed.
Very clearly the odds are against him playing major junior. I have simply stated what needs to go right and there is a lot that has to happen. My issue here is the pro paycheck. If an NHL team signs you and thinks its best for prospect development purposes to play junior instead of with men, the prospect is going to junior if the prospects advisors have their best interest at heart. Sacrifice money now to make bigger professional gains later. It has worked for many players before. The other money first approach usually sets the player back, Filatov and Tuomaala are prime examples of players who sorely needed the major junior development time. My gut feeling here is that Dvorsky wants to be an NHL player first and he will play wherever his drafting team wants him to. My guess is that he will at least start in the AHL and proceed from there.
