It’s an ultra weak sauce take. This is the NHL, not Notre Dame vs. Navy in college football. If you don’t want to look foolish, start playing better hockey. You make them pay by winning the game.

I agree with Valiquette here. Those kinds of moves don't belong in the game. Hughes didn't look like he was trying to help his team win there, instead just looking to beat the Rags goalie with a slow and weak move that would have been an embarrassing goal to give up. However, what's actually embarrassing is players trying to use the NHL to promote their Instagram accounts and possibly get influence benefits like sponsorships.

Hi Steve.

Brutal take. Nice to see fans of all teams on the same page re: the absurdity of what Valiquette said.

Jack is also on record saying how much he enjoys playing against Igor since he’s a top goalie and a challenge to score on (generally speaking, obviously Jack has had no trouble scoring on him). But he for sure respects him. Valiquette is just a huge chode.

Such a stupid comment for a Rangers broadcaster to make, particularly since it was reported earlier in the game that Hughes spoke to John Giannone, the Rangers between the benches broadcaster, during the game to make sure he told Sam Rosen congratulations on his career and upcoming retirement. Classy move, Jack. Can't say the same for Valiquette.

Hockey player brain. "Boohoo disrespect, must punch." How do these guys survive out in the real world?

And has this guy never seen this move before? It's called "The Forsberg" over here:

I like Valiquette, but this is a silly thing to say.

Shush. We have enough to be embarrassed about without Vali saying this. Other than goaltending, Rangers are now the worst team in the league.

He should have softly thrown the puck on net, and it would have went in. Just ask Bratt and Mercer. Dammit Jack!

In all seriousness, I actually like Vally. His takes are unique and inquisitive, and I respect that about him.
