I really thought we were past that way of thinking. Welcome to 2024 Mr. fringe NHLer…

I saw Hughes post-game reaction (he kinda decided to ignore it). I guess it was brought up with Shesterkin as well, how did he react?

Thoughts?

Devils admin had a response.

Horrible take, Hughes can do whatever he wants on a breakaway and why would this guy not be confident in Shesterkins ability to save it??

Most of the American broadcasters have the wildest most bias takes. There are a few exceptions like the Lightning play by play guys, but for the most part they’re incredibly bias. These days the Colorado guys are probably the worst.

This twatwaffle is the largest homer in hockey, for a c-tier analyst. 'Back in my day" motherf***er barely had a career, and yet he talks some big game like he was relevant.

He's not even a has-been been, he's a never-was.

I agree with Valiquette here. Those kinds of moves don't belong in the game. Hughes didn't look like he was trying to help his team win there, instead just looking to beat the Rags goalie with a slow and weak move that would have been an embarrassing goal to give up. However, what's actually embarrassing is players trying to use the NHL to promote their Instagram accounts and possibly get influence benefits like sponsorships.

Eh I get his point. I think we all get what he’s trying to say so it’s just a matter of opinion.

I do like the term instagram hockey though.

Steve Valiquette is a joke! Guys constantly whining about shit and talking down on other teams. He’s mad that his boy Igor is getting exposed every game and the rags got curb stomped by the devils.
Can’t stand this clown. What a weak and pathetic take on a pro hockey game.
Have you watched a Rangers game all season? Seems like maybe the exposure is the defense, not the player that has to face like 6 odd man rushes a game and actually is doing okay behind like a top 3 worst defense in the league. If the Rangers had comparable goaltending to their defense, they'd be an early lottery team.

And even if I accepted your premise, how does making a big deal over a good save prove your point? Wouldn't he do so over a goal that was scored against him? What you are suggesting doesn't in any way line up.

You can criticize the claim he made without severely exaggerating on many fronts.

8 goals in his last 8 games vs shesterkin.

His father
You don't have to make this a team war. The thread topic has quite literally nothing partisan about it. Rangers fans aren't defending the remark and don't even care about it. A commentator doesn't speak for a team or a fanbase. Think that goes without saying.

Because if we wanted we could say he's the Devils father with a 10-5-1 record and a .919 SV%.

Can't this thread be civil? You don't have to be the person to stoke conflict with Rangers fans for no reason.

Defense is definitely been underwhelming but Igor has also been underperforming.

It’s ridiculous what he said absolutely and I think he’s just being emotional over the rangers struggles.

I mean, not really. Saw a graphic today that Rangers have like the third best goaltending numbers in the league so far this season, and that's with both of our goaltenders taking on significant water the past few weeks because the team has played drunk the last few weeks. Their numbers were #1 like two weeks ago, and it's not as if they've been the reason for recent losses. Goaltending has been more than okay. The defense just absolutely sucks.
