My point had nothing to do with your grammar.

Why would you even bother posting on discussion boards if you're going to go with the old "somebody smarter than me made that decision, therefore it must be the right one"

All I am saying is Weiss is trash, he looks like he has lost all his confidence.

I think he could be a serviceable 3rd line center that can put up 40+ pts a year with good linemates.

I tend to agree, but think that his days of playing center are over; just too much deterioration in his skating.

Call me crazy, but I don't see Stephen Weiss and the play of Stephen Weiss as one of our more pressing issues at the moment.

Agreed.

The play of Z and the D is more pertinent. As well as getting players back in the lineup.

Three huge turnovers on the Powerplay today. Looked pretty bad. And if u read my other posts I don't hate the guy. Im just saying he is useless unless he is in the o zone. This is completely true so I have no idea what ur guys issue is.

You're just cherry picking stuff now. Waiting for him to fail so you can say "I told you so!"

You know who else has also been turning the puck over way to ****ing much? Tatar, Helm, Zetterberg, even Nyquist, although he's looked good the past couple of weeks. It's ridiculous the double standards that get placed on Weiss. Tatar has looked like hot garbage since the beginning of March but he gets a free pass. And he's another player that's pretty useless outside the o-zone. Helm has been terrible.

If you're going to **** on Weiss, at least be consistent. Tatar and Helm have been useless and haven't produced. Weiss has helped the team more than they have in the past few weeks. The team is better with him on it, in the proper role. Claiming that he's a "complete disaster" outside the o-zone is unfounded BS.

I have a life and stuff to do. I don't have time to spend on my grammer. I type it out quick on my phone. Thanks so much tho.

Babs doesn't use Weiss at center for a reason and If any of you think your smarter then Babs at hockey maybe you guys should get you head checked.
There is a reason Stephan Weiss doesn't get regular playing time. There is a reason Weiss gets scratched all the time. And there is a reason Weiss just flat out sucks if he's not camped in front of the opposing teams goalie.

Babs does a lot of stupid ****.

Well he's on pace for 40 points over an 82 game season with 11:22 ATOI and terrible offensive linemates for large portions of the season. That's the least amount of ice time on the entire team.

He's been the third most productive Wing per minute of ice time this season, behind only Datsyuk and Zetterberg

Facts are facts.

The funny thing is that the detroit scouts are the ones that liked what they saw when they scouted the guy before they tried to sign him in the offseason. How could they be so wrong, or is it because something funny has happened behind the scenes?

If Weiss is getting pace points, I'm also giving Franzen pace points!

I'm not giving him pace points, just pointing out that he's been very productive in the limited opportunity he's been given.

Your post literally included the word "pace" in it. That's pace points.

I don't really care, numbers are what they are, I just wanted to point out if we're going to give Weiss the benefit, we have to give everybody the benefit.

The reality is, Weiss is going to finish the season with around 25 points in around 50 games. He's done fine with his ice time, but the idea that you can extrapolate that over a larger sample is fraught with maybes.

At the same time I think it has to be asked what exactly the guy has to do to get more ice time. He had some health issues (again...), but he's had a pretty productive year and was a guy we brought in to shoulder a significantly heavier load than we've been giving him. I haven't been the happiest fan with his skating and how he seems to still not entirely get our system - especially defensively - but he's been pretty darn productive despite that.

With Datsyuk hobbled, having Weiss step into a larger role in the top9 could have been a big big plus for us. I don't think we've used him in a way for him to really be prepared for it at this point in the season, though.

Only to give an idea of his productivity so we can have a discussion on his performance. I'm sure if he was on pace for 20 points that would be brought up every third post on here.

Did I say that he would put up 40 points over a full season? No? Than I'm not giving him credit for points he didn't get. Tell me, how else are you supposed to give reasonable projections of the future if not for looking at recent results? Of course it depends on a lot of variables, like whether or not he stays healthy, or whether or not Babcock plays him somewhere other than the fourth line.

Hard to say. I'm not exactly sure why he's in Babcock's doghouse other than he has a real knack for giving away the puck. But other guys have gone through spells of that (Cleary, Franzen, Ericsson) and come out okay.

I'm not in any particular disagreement. Apologies if it seemed that way. I was more interested in making a quick Franzen joke (laced with Jurassic Park goodness) but then I decided to flesh that out with some thoughts on how tricky "pace" can be upon your reply.

Weiss has done pretty much exactly what we could hope for with his minutes. That much is hard to argue!

Since Weiss has gotten back into the lineup, I think he has looked pretty good.

Tough penalty at the end of the night against Minny, but in all he has shown well and even looked good gaining possession along the boards. I want him in the lineup.

Weiss and Franzen definitely both get credit for pace points. Why wouldn't they?(though, I get it. Franzen haters going to hate hate hate.) Also, the fact that Andersson is getting a look at 3C over Weiss lately is mind boggling.

Andy has been looking better lately but agreed that Weiss should be considered for the 3C spot.

Clearly, Weiss/Babcock have issue going on behind the scenes.

6 points and +3 over his last eight games, Weiss has definitely been one of our bigger positives lately. We get a couple of guys back where we could slide Weiss to center between something like Cole and Pulkkinen and that's not a bad looking line. Agree about their seeming to be something going on behind the scenes, though. While I'm sure Babcock deserves some credit for getting Weiss on the ice in favorable match-ups, at some point we might want to start seeing if he can handle a bit more.

Nope. Weiss will work a a winger.

Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Sheahan is the best TOP9 Center combo.

Glendening on the checking line.

I'd like to see this at the playoffs:

Akader - Zeta - Nyquist
helmer - Dats - Cole
Weiss - Sheahan - Tatar

....very deep TOP9...

Miller - Glendening - Jurco

...and a checking line.

If Mule is ready, put him to cheking line instead of Jurky.
