I mean Anaheim has no cap problems so maybe a bad for bad swap isn't necessary. I'm fine just sending Gryzelcyk to WBS, or just shooting him into the sun.

In concept though, another Sprong for Pettersson deal is what we're looking for.
You should probably consider what the other team is looking for as well

Good bet Anaheim could get someone like Berggren or Robertson level for Lacombe. He’s gonna be a solid 4/5 through his prime. He’s at the point he just needs to bank more experience and maturity now.

Yeah I could see Puustinen for Lacombe being of more interest to them. Puustinen is a bit older but he's more of a proven NHL player than Poulin.

Who’s the underwhelming AHL dman you speak of?

It's sure as hell not Lacombe, who's never played a single game in the AHL. Even if he doesn't improve one lick, he's already good enough for a decent career as a 3rd pairing NHLer. Worse guys than him are hanging around on NHL rosters.

All he's proven is that he's a 25 year old undersized skill player who doesn't score a lot.

Yep. Not sure why he’s making comments about a player he obviously knows nothing about.

The career high doesn't matter if Zegras only has like 20 points in his last 2 years and is pacing for like 16 points this year.

It's not like it was ages ago. One injury plagued year last year where he played hurt and out of position, then broke his ankle.

And have you checked his splits at LW vs C? He's played around the same number of games at each position the last two years, but overall he's gotten 15 of his 19 points at C. Which is probably why they've finally given up on the LW experiment the last two weeks.

But sure, Puustinen is very similar to Zegras at LW. Problem is, Zegras as a LW .... sucks.

It’s disingenuous of you to make it like it’s been two years when a) it’s been a little over a season, and b) he was injured most of last season. He played injured to start and then missed a ton of games on IR, only to return healthy and put up good numbers to end the season. But yeah, let’s pretend that he played all last season and has already played another full season this season.

I was thinking that since Pettersson is likely going to be traded, it would make sense to try to have another defenseman on hand already, instead of trying to replace him afterward with someone who is already in the system.

Pettersson being likely to move is a valid point, but i'd question is Lacombe is really the right type of defenceman for the Penguins as a "fit". Or if he'd just end up sort of "lost in the shuffle" if he doesn't mesh with Letang/Karlsson.

Doesn't really matter if the value is Poulin going back...who has a pretty replaceable profile himself. But i'm not sure this really appeals to the Ducks on "value" and i don't think any more value makes sense for the Penguins. Also just question where he'd play in the meantime, unless it's a follow-up or precursor to a Pettersson trade. But even then...Graves is the main real "big size" guy left, and he's already sort of "poor fitted" himself to a pairing away from both Karlsson and Letang because that doesn't work. So you have to think Lacombe will fit with one of those two and i'm not sold on the idea. You never know though... :dunno:
