There's multiple tweets of his I saw screenshotted from 2013 where he was calling people gay and dropping the f word. You can chalk some of it up to being immature but clearly it's something more than a once or twice occurring issue.

He was a dumb kid once upon a time but he has matured a bit in that regard, still brings the competitive fire on the ice.

How often does the #7 pick see the NHL in year 1, let alone play in the top 6? That's got to be 1 in a 100, no?

i dont see that kid in this draft unless we can maneuver up to grab one of the top 2. not likely.

would love to see lias andersson picked. he's gonna be a stud but he's more of a 2C ceiling.

so many options here.

still calling matt duchene.

hes an f/a in 2 yrs so price will be reduced.

21 OA plus ryan graves and nick holden with 1 mil retained.

Exactly. Maybe he's grown up? IDK.

DeAngelo was an A+ citizen with the Coyotes, official push aside. I wouldn't worry about him being a turd of a person.

I worry that being closer to home will be bad for him. I thought that AZ was a perfect spot for DeAngelo.

Also credit where credit is due, you were right about this.

Plus Shatt is good defensively
*cough* excuse me ? He is a middling defender.. at BEST.. every single last one of his strengths lies in his offensive game (where he is fantastic), he has at times been called a downright liability defensively (making him a straight up PP specialist, which.. while nice to have, certainly isn't worth even half of what we'd need to cough up to get him).

In my opinion of course.. we need complete players, especially on the defensive end (or, if not complete, at least have a defense first attitude).

Never underestimate the appeal of cheap ELC talent to a team that can spend big in other ways.

Yeah, he's a jersey boy but the Rangers are still solid and a big stage, so I don't think he'll be a ****-up.

Mike McEwen was once traded twice in three seasons. Shattenkirk also traded early in his career as well. Zubov as well.

I'm not saying he'll be as good as any but time will tell. Don't judge him on what he's done, but what he does here both on the ice and off. He might be a model citizen and do some very charitable things, and become a fan favorite especially in certain areas of Brooklyn and Queens (How U Doin'?)

I'd do that. What about including Staal (they do need someone on D) and offsetting some salary?

That is good to hear. Hopefully he has matured and can put any bad stuff behind him. I do not want anyone that will mess up our locker room.

I don't want to condone this kid's behavior but having been in hockey locker rooms for the better part of ages 6-22 you hear it all.

Maybe the new generation of hockey players is getting better about microaggressions and slurs? I wouldn't know. Been out of it a long time. But what Jeff Carter/Voynov/Kanes do to me is different than hurtful words and having a big mouth.

Thank you. That is the first specific thing I have read. I appreciate it. He should not have done that. Hopefully it was not any worse than what you posted. I do not want him to continue down that path but I'm willing to give him a chance.

That's my main concern ... especially with a coach like AV who barely plays kids over veterans as is ... like he needs any more ammo to sit the kids?

I don't look at it as just 'hateful words' I look at it as being a f***ing *********, having said that, I am always willing to give people a second chance and know that some kids don't grow up right away.

You sure ? Shattenkirk , Smith , Deangelo right side

pretty sure no.

2 things

deangelo does shattenkirk things. just cheaper, younger and faster.

second, huge hole in the middle now. good teams have good centers.

shatty too expensive. resign smith who played well here in a 2nd pair role.

spend the money on an impact 1C.

MATT DUCHENE

Hopefully he comes in and is great on and off the ice. If not then we will have to make a decision then. For now I will give him a clean slate.
