Serious question, not trying to be snarky (I have my opinions, but would love to see the counter examples): have there been any players who's career started like DeAngelo's (traded multiple times due to character issues) that eventually turned into stars or top players?
Can Marleau still play? 3 yrs 12 million fair?
You don't want a 7th overall pick? That is a Strome , Dvorak etc unless they F it up lol
the deangelo thing pretty much means no shattenkirk thing
I don't want a homophobic racist on my team. I'll take a cheap or dirty player. Or a guy who says some borderline **** to get under someone's skin. DeAngelo is an awful human being. He shouldn't have the privilege of wearing this jersey.
Rarely will I ever object to a player on the team I root for. I've defended all sorts of bad characters. But DeAngelo's outright bigotry is just part of a pattern of character flaws he has.
If he was just a dirtbag? Cool. All the merrier. Attaching his massive personality flaws and racism? Blech.

I don't want a horrible human being as a Ranger either but what did he say that makes him a horrible human being? I would like to decide for myself.
It's the second time this season the 18-year-old has been suspended for contravening the rule which attempts to keep homophobic, racist, sexist, and the other derogatory language used by small minds – out of the game.
Tampa Bay Lightning organization attributed at least in part to “attitude issues”, and a pattern is beginning to emerge. At best, DeAngelo seems to let his emotions get the best of him in high-pressure situations. At worst, DeAngelo has systemic character problems that likely played a role in Tampa Bay’s decision to cut ties with their former first round draft choice.
Wouldn't Shattenkirk be a bit redundant now? Hopefully we still resign Smith.
There are temporary solutions in some short term UFAs.
Can you be specific? I would like to know what he said to decide for myself. Thanks in advance.
fair enough but...
you've got mika and hayes now as roster centerman. nieves waiting to earn the 4C spot.
step and lindy both gone leaves a huge hole in the middle.
unless we draft an impact kid in this draft who can play atleast the 2C, not sure where this move leaves us. there has to be a pivot deal pending.
do we offer the 21 OA plus a player/prospect for duchene ? would a return of holden and ryan graves be enough ?
what would we need to add to the 21OA to get back matt ? or is it the 7OA plus graves ?
is there a deal there ?

How often does the #7 pick see the NHL in year 1, let alone play in the top 6? That's got to be 1 in a 100, no?
Christ. People criticize Step for being too loose and not showing intensity. Then he shows how ****ing badly he wants to win and how into the game he is by telling Henrik to calm down, and fans get on his ass. Then in his exit interviews he talks about how he was terrible and he needs to be better - you know, ACCOUNTABILITY - and then fans rip him for not being confident? What the ****?
true.
theres also jtmiller back to center.
mika
miller
hayes
isnt terrible
i still believe you keep miller on the wing and strengthen the center of the ice. good teams who win have strength up the middle.
Nick I get your point. It's not right to witch hunt someone for some opinions.
My problem is I think the reason he's been bouncing around isn't because of his character issues
Thanks for the links but I do not see what he said to be suspended. I hate racism but before I crucify this guy I would like to know what he said and it what context. As far as the ref push suspension goes he earned the suspension but its not the worst thing we have seen by any stretch. A poster above said his constant bigotry. Where is his constant bigotry?

Not often. This is a long term move and a movement clause dodge.
