Is the biggest knock on this lad his attitude?

How has he developed in terms of his play?

he always reminded me of a faster, better skating, more aggressive and with a better shot, mike del zotto.

in other words, a faster, more talented del zotto

similar size. kinda look similar too.

It really must be awful to be the children of some people in here. DeAngelo is 21. If you judged me based on some of my actions and things I said before I was 21 I would have a rough go as well.

Kids do stupid things. He has time to put together everything and mature. And for the record, sans the ref incident, which again, I think was severely overblown, he has not had any known incidents since he was like 18. His skill set on the other hand, is not something that can be taught. The Rangers have a very experienced core with guys who can guide him in the right way. It's a significantly more mature environment then Arizona. Lundqvist, Staal, McDonagh, Zucc, etc are all very mature, experienced and strong leaders.

Thanks Step..a true pro thrust into the spotlight and he performed with heart and passion. He can thank the NYR for an opportunity like no other being a NYR and and and the money.... lots of it ..his family is set.
Now it would seem that with Deangelo in ..is there a need for Smith and Shattenkirk ? ONLY ONLY if Mac is included in a trade for Nate! Mac and Step best friends ..does it affect Mac?
Mac + 7oa + 21oa for Nate!!

Reading about DeAngelo's temperament makes me think he is just the type of young player that will clash with AV. (Of course most young players will but particularly so in his case).

Definitely a worry because the way AV deals with that is the silent treatment and you sit on the bench. Sounds like maybe he needs a role model of some sort in his life. Definitely a project with a ton of upside potential

I just skimmed a year of the guys tweets. I didn't see racist tweets. Are people freaking out because he was for Don and against Hill? I dont think that is a big deal

As a professional? No. You wouldn't.

Sure I would, it's not like there have NEVER been any hot heads in ANY professional sports.

Playing with an edge means walking a very fine line, and to be honest, fire on the ice is much preferred over Mr. Milk Toast's "relax man, we totally got this" attitude.

I'm sorry for wanting players to show some passion on the ice.

His issues were just a wee a bit different.

Stepping back into discussing DeAngelo the hockey player, during his limited time in Arizona, his analytics were pretty ridonkulous.

You tokd me I would be surprised with the return we got from Stepan. You failed me, GG.

How many players get suspended for this behavior in a given year? Take a look and get back to me.

He doesn't need a role model. He's a grown man. If he doesn't want to shut the **** up and make great money playing in the NHL he can run his mouth anywhere he wants.

Bold prediction:

Mcdonagh, #7, #21, +? for Mackinnon/Duchene and #4 (Rangers select Heiskanen/Makar)

Some years ago a guy on a tv show got labeled a racist based on a tweet. Turns out the guy is one of the nicest guys around. Good friends with people from all walks of life. I do not like bad people or racists but I think we should see how this guy acts in NY before so we can come to our own conclusions about who he is today.

Dale Puriton always showed emotion.

I like Stepan but clearly this is a team that needed a shake up. Perhaps a bit more **** and vinegar. From what I recall of Stepan's comments after the loss, he basically said he ran out of steam and could not raise his game. Not what you want to hear from a guy you count on and pay accordingly.

Cap space. Youth. Maybe start getting some more type A guys. Cause I'd rather win with a few incorrigibles than lose with a team full of nice guys who always say the right thing.

He's a ****** but he's not Slava Voynov or Bobby Hull

It's funny, I think De'Angelo and Voynov are pretty similar players in style, though, and I'd take a non-wife beating version of Voynov in an insant

Is a homophobic/xenophobic version better?

I get the long term issues with his contract, but running him out of town for accounting for a weak playoffs after stepping up his game in so many others?
