Can confirm ;) But yeah, Jon is 100% correct here. The kid needs to grow the **** up because he's going to be held accountable for his actions.

All the talent in the world, but he needs to be mature.

Despite losing Stepan, NYR still have a veteran locker room. **** that was ok in Arizona wont fly here.

As per the words of Dean Lombardi: 'Every good army needs a couple of criminals'

He doesn't win those 2 cups without his criminals (Voynov, Richards)

DeAngelo has big time upside. But he's also a big time potential cancer. DeAngelo isn't moved in this deal if he's your normal-mannered player. We got him BECAUSE he is who he is, so you can't really "forget about the other crap".

I sincerely hope the guy grows up. He's so talented.

Calm down, he's a young dumb Jersey kid. I think back to some of the crap I did and said at that age and cringe. People can change in the right environment, and what better organization than ours? This isn't Tampa or Arizona where it's a team of young upstart chip on their shoulder types who all have something to prove. He's coming to a team full of "young veterans" who take the game seriously, take winning seriously, and he'll have to get with the program if he wants a future here. First time he says or does something dumb, McDonagh, Hank, Nash, Zucc, and Staal are going to be at his locker ready to put some fear into him. NOBODY on this team is going to put up with that crap. Beukeboom as his D coach? No. That stuff isn't going to fly in New York. He's gonna learn right quick - THIS AIN'T ARIZONA, DUDE. Check your Mickey Mouse antics at the door if you want a spot on this team.

What is this obsession with Stepan declining? He's 26 years old. He's not declining. In fact, he's likely still going to improve his all-around game over the next few seasons.

He's a consistent 50+ point player. I don't understand why we look past the fact that he puts up points and plays great defense (this season aside).

Yeah. It could be that the Rangers were just getting ******** every year since 2014.

It's kind of like the mystery box prize. I mean we could have a lower end number 1 center, but inside the box it could be a lower end first line center in several years if we are lucky ! In a box!

I don't mind it. I like deangelo as a player great skater and puck handler. He's got creativity as well. This trade depends on what we do with the 7th. Hopefully we don't **** it up.

Didn't Patrick Kane get into tons of trouble at a young age too? This kid has issues, but I don't think they are unfixable.

Aside from Patrick Kane being exponentially more talented, I'm not sure you could have made a worse example in regard to behavior. Allegedly of course ....

Not a good example at all, Kane is still an idiot. He also happens to have 3 rings which covers up his stench neatly.

Lets not get political discussing DeAngelo. It is fair to debate your feelings on him as a human being as he is now part of the organization. Don't go political. Enough of calling people SJW or saying that hes one of "those MAGA people".

Truthfully I don't think stepan is a guy who is all of a sudden gonna have 60 point years. His lack of speed really hurts him and he isn't big or physical. The biggest loss is his defense especially on the PK. So we need to address that

That's an overstatement if you watch the clip. It was definitely a dumb move, but "going after an official" just isn't what happened at all.

You simply cannot do what he did, SL. Period. He physically contacted an official when he tried to shake him off. He has severe anger issues on the ice. This has been part of his problem since he was a kid.

I find myself saying similar things about him now as I did his draft year. I was willing to look past some of his stuff during his draft year thinking he'd move on and improve. I don't see that happening as of yet.

Can he change? Sure. He has to change, frankly. Will he? Remains to be seen.

Exactly. This team needs at least one human piece of garbage on it. I for one welcome it. We're too goody goody, need some variety. Just don't get too crazy and we're good. Maybe instead of homophobic/racial slurs, you stick to cancer jokes like Avery?

Okay. We get it.

Time will tell.

We had this exact same debate in his draft year. I said the same things now that I said then. So did you. Just goes to show that people don't change.

Its a fair deal. Interesting to see what we do with our two 1st rounders and our hole at center now.

Gorton meet DeAngelo on his first day. Zucc sits next to Gorton.

Gorton: Anthony we expect that you behave like a pro and give everything you have to this franchise if not Zucc will kick your ass!

Zucc: Thats right, enough with all the BS, you are 21, time to grow up and focus on hockey!

DeAngelo: I promise!

Zucc: Good boooi

Sure. By taking a chance on a guy who goes after his own teammates and officials. Great way to fill a hole.

The good thing is that I think leadership here can handle him if need be.

Then what exactly is your problem here.

All of your previous posts suggest that he is set in his ways and will never grow up, yet here you leave the door open that Players and Staff will be able to 'deal' with him.

The "abuse of ref" to me was/is ********. I'd act the same way if the referee kept pulling on my jersey, I understand it's against the rules but telling someone to take their hands off you doesn't make you a bad person.

As for the alleged homophobia, nothing you can't change with a bit of education and some proper sit down sessions with victims of hate crimes related to homophobia.

And believe it that the Rangers, out of all the teams will not be standing for ANY homophobic tendencies.
They are very big on supporting LGBTQ rights.

As a professional? No. You wouldn't.

Count me as someone who likes to root for good human beings. That's what made this last era of Rangers hockey so amazing. Henrik, Cally, Girardi, Step, McDonagh...all amazing human beings on and off the ice. Go back even further: Richter, Leetch, Graves. Model human beings.

I want this team to win the cup. But I also want this team to win with good people & model citizens. Just my opinion, for whatever that's worth...

He's a human being, and not a worthless one at all. My line of work and volunteerism has introduced me to some people who, had they been written off as "terrible people" or "awful human beings" while in their teens and early twenties, would never have had the opportunity to flourish as adults and pull the complete 180 that they did.

I understand being concerned with the kid's history, past and more recent, but it's absurd to label him as a terrible or awful person. If someone wants to affix those labels that's their prerogative, but it's really unwarranted.

ryan mcdonagh and brady skjei will mentor this kid. you cant have 2 better role models.

if this kid can stop with all the distracting behavior and focus, he's got potential to be our version of erik karlsson. he can do similar things.

right handed shot, skates effortlessly and pp point man.

hes ultra competitie and needs to grow up. people can change. playing with an edge isnt always a negative. acting like a clown is.

its called maturing.

The future in now folks!
