Vegas was hands down the better team in the 3rd period. I liked that it was at least close, but can the Panthers at least win a game? I don't want this to be a sweep at all.
I would actually love for this to go 7, because We'll be in Mexico June 7-14. If I were to script it, VGK would win on home ice while I am in town. I'm not going to pretend tix wouldn't be out of my budget, but would love to watch my team win and celebrate from the plaza outside.

I was in the arena when Ovy lifted the cup. Was elated for him. It was easy not to have bitter emotions because it had been clear for several games that VGK didn't have anything for the Caps. Walked around the plaza afterward congratulating the obviously happy Caps fans. Many of them commented on how kind and positive VGK fans were being in a loss. If these boards are in anyway a microcosm of the Panthers fanbase, I am not expecting to be congratulated by them if such a thing happens.

Of course in 2018 VGK was playing with house money, and everyone including us knew it.

Another 411 posters are in trouble.
I'm impressed you actually did the calculation.

A few thoughts:

Florida was coming off a long layoff and looked a bit off. Bobrovsky was really good, regardless of the stats. He had 5 or 6 amazing saves.

The reffing was atrocious. The Vegas missed cross check from behind should have been a game misconduct. The league review was also bizarre in this one, I expected that high stick goal to be analyzed for 10 minutes and they took 10 seconds.

Vegas had some solid play, and took advantage of the officiating and bounces. That one save by Hill was crazy.
Agree, except for your last sentence. Cousins was terrible there. Yeah, good news for the Panthers, Bob looked really good.

Quite a few human-shaped clouds of smoke where “Cats in 4” used to be.

That game was both closer than the score suggests and hell to have on behind me whilst bartending because I’m the idiot that didn’t take the evening off. That being said, one word comes to me now -

COMPOSURE.

Refusing to get rattled when down a goal.

Refusing to give up on a save and getting the job done with the tip of your paddle.

Refusing to stop grinning like a Bond villain when Tkachuk punches your face.

All of these are excellent demonstrations of composure.

If Nic Hague can grind out more real estate in the Panthers’ heads than Tkachuk can claim in Vegas’ crease, this series shouldn’t go beyond six games. And this morning’s tale of the tape unquestionably goes to Hague.

I didn’t get to watch Florida’s path to the Finals as close as I’d have liked, but it may come to pass that Vegas’ ability to stay composed proves to be the kryptonite to the Panthers’ “wagon” of emotion/grit/Tkachuk-as-tip-of-spear.

Or at least I’m hoping.

I agree with you. Hill barely got his stick on a weak deflection and the media is calling it save of the century (exaggerating, no need tonask for a clip of these wirds being used). Furthermore, the puck just laid there, teed up to be finished off, and VGK was barely able to clear it. Holtby's was a much more solid stick save.

Stop crying
Wouldn't have made a difference in the final outcome.

The fact that Hill was able to scramble back and get into position to have his stick there in the first place was the beauty of the play

I've written this elsewhere. I have seen Hague throw a punch. It's a given that Cucky won't drop the gloves anyway, he's one of those who will take dirty shots but won't answer the bell and face someone on neutral terms. If he would drop the gloves, Hague would make a pizza out of his face, with those haymakers of his and his longer reach. I'm not saying that Chucky would be emasculated by the beat down, I don't think he cares, I just don't understand why he refuses to answer the bell.

Composure is a very good word for it. Last time Hague took the abuse with a smile was against Domi, and the refs decided to even it up and give him 2 for smiling. Good on them for recognizing discipline last night and not giving in to penalizing the team that stood there and just took it. Refs made plenty of other mistakes on both sides.

Hill showed an appropriate amount of fiest getting involved in the skirmish. Shows he has the comportment of his mates that they can't and won't be intimidated

I like their style!
Agreed, I like to see some fire in a goalie. Once he got his punch in, though, I would have preferred he back off and let his boys take out the trash.

And I'm betting Marchy has told him something to that effect.

Enough vets there to police themselves. He probably enjoyed the action. Me and my kid noticed a bit of a sardonic smile under the mask as it all ended

Vegas is about that last team that you want to try and goon it up against. They live on that shit.

The only thing that works against them (sometimes) is speed, and jumping their passing routes when they try to leave the zone, leading to transition chances against. The league has been waiting for years for penalties to get called against them in Vegas, but it simply doesn't happen. This is not new.

If Stone is able to play healthy, then he's an awesome player. One of the best defensive players in the league, he's a 1st line offensive threat, and he's got a bit of nasty to him.

Tkachuk engaging with players like Hague is dumb. Hague, and Vegas, will love that.

It’s only 3-0 who cares
Panthers and our fans just need to take the L.
We weren’t gonna win 12 of 13 and 9 straight on the road in the playoffs.

The refs were bad but it goes both ways. I thought at least one of the calls against Vegas was weak af. I think that’s what bothers me with the refs, some obvious stuff they let go, but weak shit they call lol it goes both ways, it’s just that when one terrible call leads to a momentum change it’s impactful and annoying but ultimately it happens to every team probably through the playoffs.

But full credit to Vegas. They stayed composed and finished their chances.
I like that we had our chances too. We could’ve easily had several more goals but Hill made a terrific save and we hit like 3 posts. It happens, they way it goes sometimes. Just ask Carolina last series. This was our turn to feel the pain.

We didn’t have Luostarinen and Gudas got hurt. Something we just have to deal with.
Still proud of our boys that we’ve reached this far with the likes of Dalpe and Staals.
Will be interesting how our boys bounce back next game. Still staying with my pick of Panthers in 7.

Hopefully they get better refs for the rest of the series. 7 to 3 in pps and they happen to miss the most egregious boarding penalty of the entire game.
