It sucks that he's declined as much as he has. He's made millions and millions of dollars and has had a HOF career, but what's Nashville going to do with that contract? Talk about an abject ending to a great career.

Hate to see him struggle, but I won't give up on him yet. Maybe a down year in the grand scheme of things but if there's one thing he has proven, it's the ability to bounce back.

I bet he would have still found a way to be productive in Tampa if only because his shot is still a weapon and on that powerplay Kucherov would have been feeding him slam dunks all year.

But still smart of Tampa to move on from him

The weird thing is that the skating speed stats show that he's still one of the better skaters in the league
That's kind of weird, yeah. I don't really buy that he's one of the faster players at this point. At least not in any way that's impactful. He really hasn't been explosive since he broke his leg, and the last few years his speed has been average-ish.

Trash.

They forgot this one

Something closer to the middle of what he is and that.

Can't even describe how frustrating it is to see Stammer in Nasville.
It's clear that he was Tampa's product in last few years and it would be really stupid to expect a 35 year-old veteran forward to lead your team, especially in a new place, but oh man... His own goal is like hitting a rock-bottom. Things simply can't get worse from here. At least he got 8x4 contract.

Oh? But speed was the attitude Stamkos was known for, in addition to the shot. At least before he broke his leg.

It's true he's not been explosive but the technique should still be there. He likely struggles with acceleration and also agile turns, as those are expected to be most problematic for his injury.

No one expected Stamkos to lead a team
