Carlisle is a top 4 D on a Championship level team. He's consistently overlooked and underrated by fans. Don't be fooled by the stats. He's out there against the other team's best every night and consistently comes out ahead. Coach Dean really protects Karki and Gibson in that regard.

He's easily our best defender and the anchor of our fantastic penalty kill. Almost all of the names being put out there are worse players than #7. I'd rather focus on other areas or get a bottom pairing guy for cheap. We're certainly not going to address any defensive issues that we have by demoting him.

Hayes at 2nd line LW (as good as he has been, he's still a rookie) and Brown at 3C strike me as bigger issues if we want to truly contend.

I think that Jonathan Melee and his championship pedigree is a really nice fit on our second line. Maybe you can get him for Brown. At 3 C, I like Michael Podolioukh and Zach Filak as reasonably priced options that are good defensively and can help on the PK. There are bigger fish out there, but I'll leave that speculation to others.

I thought that was Martin's best game so far. I forget that he was out for a month to start the season. I'd like tonsee him take some minutes in browns spot.

I’d not be sending #7 anywhere either. Under mentioned on this board and a top 4 Dman on the Hounds. I’m sold on Karki‘s offensive instincts and game, I think his defensive side still needs to develop. Just my 2 cents.

Carlisle has been very good. I don't think anyone is suggesting we trade him. In terms of a D acquisition, my thoughts are we need to pick up someone who can play in the top 4. We already have 4 of them, but we need to protect against injury. Not sure any of our bottom 3 would flourish in that role.

When healthy, one of those 5 would play bottom pairing.

Come playoff time it is nice to be able to play a 5 D rotation if need be. There have been a few times the past couple weeks that their bottom D pair has been exposed in the third period. I know that it's important for development and they have generally been playing pretty well but playoffs are a different animal.

Yes.... I agree. A 5th DMan to add to our already great 4. Unfortunately someone may have to leave to gain this 5th DMan. Definitely will not be our current top 4. With 5 great and older DMen, we can play all 5 in playoffs and can protect the defense should there be an injury or suspension.

Virgilio is already being floated around at the potential one to be traded if we're looking for an upgrade

I do think Virgilio would be the obvious choice if looking to move to a big older Dman that can play a playoff type game. However no use making a trade on the back end if the Hounds don’t make a move or two up front to improve. Normally come playoff time we have trouble with the gritty hard hitting older teams. Perhaps look to improve there as well. Hounds mojo for the last 10 years as been skill and speed. Regular season play has been great, playoff play hasn’t been as successful.

Going to be an interesting Dec/early January to see what direction the Hounds go.

If you haven't already done so, I would suggest everyone should buy a copy of "33-0: Perfection, heartbreak and the 1984-85 Soo Greyhounds" by Steve Buist.

Bought my copy at last night's game - only $20 - and the author will have a table set up at tomorrow's game as well. Mr. Buist is an excellent writer and some of the stories he relates had me laughing out loud. What a team that was!

Virgilio himself is far too valuable to be used in a trade for a 3rd pairing D. I think you would use him to land a top 6 forward in an ideal world.

Then you can land Donovan McCoy, Luca D'Amato, or what have you for a couple of mid round picks. Look at the costs for Isaac Enright and Luc Brzustowski last year for examples of what a veteran 5th D coats.

Yes, Virgilio must be used for a big fish type player preferably a forward.

Now Christopher Brown on the other hand.. haha

London absolutely spanked Saginaw the other day and we play a similar style, so hopefully the coaching staff was watching and will make the required adjustments.

Check out the lineup....London missing Haltunnen (Finland), Barkey, Cowan, Bonk (Canada). We should get spanked, going with 9 Jr. B quality players.

A little luck so far with a nice bounce leading to the goal and two really, really, bad missed calls on Dickinson and I think George, but the Hounds should be playing better nonetheless.

Evans ends up in the box for a high stick, while he himself is bleeding from a high stick on the same play. You don't see that very often. Simultaneous penalties, with only one called.

I'm really not saying this because it's London, but this is by far the worst officiating we have seen all season.

That wasn't a trip on Virgilio. It was a complete 100% phantom call and should have been diving. Watch the replay.

That also wasn't a penalty on Kostov, as Simpson very clearly had possession of the puck.

That's 5 awful, awful calls already.

The hit in Barker has me rattled.

London doesn’t have consequences for their actions, especially not in the dressing room, that’s obvious. Goon squad sent on their way without another 2 points, adios!

Now we can say we’ve beat both versions of the Knights eh? lol

This can't be right.
Because we had the worst officiating in OS last night 😀

Boulton will be suspended and so will Dickinson if this league has any sense.

...so they won't be suspended.
