Comparison time:

Gavin Hayes since joining the Soo has 5 goals and 6 assists good for 11 points in 5 games.

Owen Beck since joining the Spirit has 4 goals 8 assists good for 12 points in 5 games.

Trade working out perfectly for both teams. Hayes was the right fit for this team with his size and strength, and he seems to have gelled very good with the boys.

I am loving Justin DeZoete… few more games and his point production will increase. He is a great depth guy and he is a work horse, has great wheels and hands.

Frasca coming around too! He’s a big body it’s something I’m we’re not used to seeing hahaha

Personally I look at 'our' Beck and Saginaw's Beck, both are excellent additions who contribute fairly regularly but we paid way less for Jack

Hayes is on a mission it seems to top his goal production from last season, great to see a guy like this added to our lineup

Frasca seems like he's still getting used to our system, but glad to see he's starting to contribute

DeZoete sounds like a solid pickup for the late pick, we'll see if he can start racking up some points in due time

Hoping BMB is back this up coming weekend, will be interesting to see the lineups once he is inserted back in

Hey guys, just catching up on the weekend's action. I noticed that Travis Hayes was not listed on the lineup card vs. Erie on the OHL website, yet Brad Coccimiglio's live blog has him in the lineup and it looks like he played as he's listed as a -2 with 1 shot (EDIT: not true, was looking at wrong game stats). Anyone have any idea why he's not on the lineup card on the OHL website? Just an error?

EDIT: also, Brad's live blog did post a gametime update "Late change on the scratches for the Greyhounds as Travis Hayes is now out of the lineup"

I would trust the OHL website, he doesn't appear anywhere on the sheet....hoping Travis was just out with a flu bug or something minor...

As per SooToday:

For the Greyhounds, Travis Hayes missed the game due to a lower body injury. Dean said following the game that the rookie forward is day-to-day.

Thanks for that! I was looking at the stats for the wrong game, which is why I was confused.

Great article by Peter Ruicci about Gavin Hayes and how the trade came together. I normally quote the best part in case it's TLDR, but quite honestly I couldn't cut it down. It's a great article. Go see for yourself.

Looking forward to tonight's game against the Rangers. Too bad they will be missing a number of key players.

When we last played them on December 15 in Kitchener we came away with an impressive 6 to 3 win.

I know it's absolutely meaningless, but Brenden Sirizzotti was named that game's 1st star with a goal and an assist.

Alex Kostov also scored a goal (short-handed) and Connor Clattenburg picked up an assist.

If things go wrong tonight, perhaps we can blame the Ghost of Traded Players?

Kitchener missing Swick, Mesar and Andonovski tonight.

The same formula that we used in the last win should be effective again. Roll 4 lines with high energy and an emphasis on forechecking. Their defense will wear down eventually.

We're missing a lot more than just them. Best of luck tonight let's just make it through the game with no more injuries, think we've both seen enough of those. Great to see McConnell-Barker back!

missing Mesar, Swick, Martin, Reid , Andonoski and Brzustewiz. That's !st defense pairing, 1 of 2nd pairing, 2 of 1st line

Great first period. Kitchener really struggled getting any breakouts going against the Hounds' spreed on the forecheck. Keep it up in the second and they should get rewarded.
