He really does not play the greyhounds style of game; but LW, really?

why not? he can still be deployed to take crucial faceoffs but from a playmaking sense we have some much better options at center, especially once BMB returns.

He’s played C and RW (more) for four seasons. If wanting a LW, trade for a LW.

Fair enough, although the notion of forward positions in the offensive zone is somewhat over-rated these days. A lot of forechecks are built on the concept of F1, F2, and F3 more-so than traditional positions.

Not at all.
If you want a net presence and big heavy body that can drive the net shielding the puck outside (RW), Frasca is your guy.
If you want someone to set up on the off-wing for a one-timer, Frasca is not your guy.

his foot speed doesn't strike me as a guy who is going to be leading the rush and driving the net very often although I've admittedly only seen him play 7 periods of hockey...but so far he is usually trailing the rush not leading it. I entirely agree with him being a netfront menace and hope to see him deployed in that capacity especially on the PP.

You also haven’t seen Frasca at RW/C. Don’t need a lot of speed to drive right through an opponent with a weight, balance, reach advantage.
The hounds draft Brown over Procyszyn or Holmes over Matier to stay true to their system. Why would they trade for Frasca to play out of position? It reeks of desperation. They could not or would not trade for Peer, Giroux, …

I personally don't think it was desperation, I believe he was brought in precisely because they want him to be a net front menace, something we've lacked in previous playoffs imo. Who knows, he may end up back on RW it's only January.

But yeah, I think he's here to pay the price out front of the net for a team of skilled smaller forwards who have been accused of being easy to muscle out to the perimeter and to take key faceoffs. We'll see if it was the right move I guess.

They surely 'could' have, considering they paid more for Frasca. I think they misread the market and overpaid early, when better players turned out to be available for less.

Lots on the Windsor board about Peer not being good in his own zone. Perhaps he was never a target? Raftis made his moves relatively early, I suspect he got the players he wanted.

Peer is really hard working without the puck and has an active stick, both things that Raftis usually mentions when praising a player. I've seen enough of him to know that. You rarely see him need to play defense to be honest, but you could be right.

Idk about better for less, Lockhart was long gone. Kressler in a different way is just as good when healthy, but he was not cheaper. Peer was not cheaper. Giroux was going to Sudbury. Zito probably did not want SSM.
Punnet is who I thought SSM would target.

I like Punnett and was shocked for how cheap he went, but there just wasn't a need or a fit with the Greyhounds. Bumping Carlisle to the 3rd pair would be unnecessary and silly and it would open up a big hole up front.

Team looks good! Bigger than most. Neutral zone speed and passing was fun to watch. Miller was a rock back there too. Big kid. Best of luck the rest of the way. Dark horse of the conference no doubt.

I believe 16 of the 18 skaters scored at least 1 point tonight. All 4 teams (Lon, Soo, Sag and Gue) gained 2 ponts on the Rangers with their loss. This Western Conference is a tight race, with Saginaw having 5 games in hand over the Rangers.

Just how he scored last night!

Hounds also play Saginaw 3 more times ( 6 points on the line ).

It will come down to those games, I feel.

Gavin Hayes must be averaging 2 points a game with Hounds. Standings still tight with the top 4 after this weekends games. Guelph no slouch either. Not gonna be nice to play Guelph whoever finishes 4th seed. And yes, that's me predicting too much. Guelph could easily pass 1 of the top 4 teams.

Guelph or Owen Sound are both a tough first round matchup. And the 2nd round in the western conference could be a meat grinder.
