We can't make that move (moving out another forward) without then bringing in another forward though. We are already running one forward fewer than we had.

So I’m not sure if this defines “aggressive “ at the deadline at all.

He shortened our forward core and did not strengthen the d.

If it’s all he does, it’s not enough.

There has to be another move in the making. i can't see moving forward with just this group. we are one injury away from disaster. even bring up montroy now that the younger kids have gone. he's a decently skilled 18 year old that already knows our systems and will play

Would hope he'd have an instant impact and wouldn't take away from what we have going this season though if he is brought up

i feel the same about defense. we can't rely on Virgilio, BMB and Evans imo. I'd like to see another veteran defense added so we can keep BMB and Evans upstairs.

To be fair, i'm not even really that concerned about the impact he would make statistically. as long as he isn't messing up all the time i'd be happy. but he had a pretty decent training camp and pre-season. just got caught up in a numbers game. i always liked his skillset. thought he'd put it all together this year.

Id throw him on the 4th line with Hayes and Martin if that's the case, give that line a bit of veteran presence

All this Montroy talk is crazy talk. If Montroy was part of the plans he would have been with the team all year.

As for trading Virgilio, at this point I would be pissed if he gets traded. You don't negotiate a deal like the one that Raftis did for Hayes, keeping all our 06s and 07s save for Kostov, to just go and trade Virgilio now. We don't need a top pairing D. We need a 4/5 D. If we have to trade Virgilio to get a fourth D that is not good asset management.

If Raftis prioritized getting a defenseman, he should have made his OA upgrade an OA defenseman, and in the Hayes trade he should have moved a defenseman instead of 2 forwards. But he didn't. Which tells me it was not a priority for him.

Still possible he adds a depth defenseman, but not for Virgilio, and I'm not holding my breath on it.

I agree on Montroy talks, he would have spent the entire season here if so.

It’s more likely to slot in Solomon on D than call-up Montroy on F to fill holes haha

he may not. but those that watch him every night are excited for what he will bring as an 18-19 year old. he's already playing very good as a 17 year old. i'd rather we keep him anyway.

Actually, now looking at the forwards again, I'm wondering if they don't try Allard on the 3rd line in Clattenburg's place, maybe pushing Brown to the wing? The two new acquisitions can play together on the 2nd line?

Beck - BMB - Mignosa
D'Intino - Frasca - Hayes, G
Brown - Allard - Cloutier
Fantino - Martin - Hayes, T
Vader

The other option might be flopping Brown and Fantino? Or maybe trying brown on the wing on the 2nd line?

Next two games are at home. Maybe they try stacking the top two lines with a 3rd pure checking line for the home games where they can control the matchups, and then try spreading out 3 scoring lines for the away games?

this is what i had been thinking.

BeckBMBG. Hayes
D'IntinoAllardFrasca
CloutierBrownMignosa
FantinoMartinT. Hayes

i think Hayes with Beck and BMB would be unstoppable. I wouldn't be opposed to moving allard to the wing on second line, and letting frasca take the draws. Mignosa on that wing would balance it out with some finesse.

could leave Dino Brown Cloutier on 3rd line? i'd keep 4th together. just swap Vader and Fanitno in and out,.

Yeah, I was thinking by splitting up Beck and G. Hayes you have 1A and 1B lines, but I understand where you are coming from.

One thing I don't think we will see is Frasca on the RW. We are pretty deep on the right side with the addition of G. Hayes, so I can't see Frasca on the off wing.

I'm pleased that we kept Virgilio and we don't need to add to our defense for that reason. It's already 5 deep with really good players and a couple of solid rookies to boot.

Kudryavtsev doesn't get enough credit as the league's top defensive defenseman, who can also chip in points. Watch when he plays. It's surprising if the other team even gets a shot. I didn't count a single one against Oshawa. This guy is going to eat up 30 minutes in the playoffs and shut down opponents. Gibson has that ability on the right nights as well.

I just want to see another forward added for cheap. Preferably an 04 with playoff experience.
