would a deal of : ( Kitchener & soo trade proposal )
mignosa, virgilio & 2nd round pick in 2024 for

carson rehkopf (F) or hunter brzustewicz ( D)
I'd do that in a second.

Yeah, I was thinking by splitting up Beck and G. Hayes you have 1A and 1B lines, but I understand where you are coming from.

One thing I don't think we will see is Frasca on the RW. We are pretty deep on the right side with the addition of G. Hayes, so I can't see Frasca on the off wing.
you're right. i did those projected lines last night after the trades, but seeing yours, i'd move frasca to the middle. allard doens't win near enough draws to warrant the centre position. love his game, but face offs are the weakest part, IMO.

I'm hopeful another 03/04 Dman can be brought in. Something along the lines of Braden Hache in Saggy. Realize they're tough to find and get, but super valuable down the stretch. Would Connor Punnett in Barrie be a similiar player to Hache and possible target? Do understand # 38 would likely be the odd man out.

Like that Kyle made two big moves, just think one more is needed to have a good chance.
Punnet might be better overall, but it would be hard to find a faster shut-down D than Hache

Alas. Great points folks.
I have been a season ticket holder for over 20 years and this my first post. I'm really happy with the trades. Ya will miss some of that grit no doubt without kostov and clattenberg but getting adding frasca 6 foot 5 guy will Always help in the playoffs. Here is what my line up looks like.

how about Martin and Virgilio and the second
how about no

more balanced approach?
i'd definitely move brown off of martins line. that line has been so effective because of their willingness to engage physically. brown is the opposite of that, he makes sure to get out of the way half the time. i'd feel better with fantino back on that line instead

There are no guarantees. Plus, I think that mock trade was for one or the other Kit players, not both.

I've been scouring some rosters for potential 4/5 D available. Not gonna lie, the pickings seem slim. Maybe that's why Raftis opted to bring in 2 forwards; he figured what we had was just as good as what he could have gotten aside from established top pairing guys which is more than we need.

Like the trades so far. I don’t think they are done yet. I think they will look to bring in a veteran character guy with some grit and secondary scoring ability to replace the loss of clatneberg.

Lines I would go with

Beck - BMB - Hayes
Cloutier - Allard - Mignosa
Dintino - Fresca - Hayes
Brown - Martin - Fantino

Fresca has to stay at Center he’s the best face off guy in the league and will play a shut down role. He gives us superb depth at Center. I can see them moving brown and dintino in a package to bring in an upgrade in dintino for the 3rd line wing and a character guy similar to clatenberg to solidly the 4th line brown just doesn’t fit in the bottom 6 role and not good enough for the top 6.

What about the idea of bringing in 19 year old local product Tyson Doucette? He could be a solid bottom 6 addition who brings some grit and spark and he has 13 goals this season. I am sure he wouldn’t be expensive to get and way better to have then Brown.

One thing I think will be interesting to see; keeping Martin this deadline will be pointless if Raftis does much more.

Right now, Martin's 18 year old season (2025-2026) is shaping up as follows:

Cloutier (OA) - Martin - Mignosa (OA)
xxx (OA) - Brown - Hayes, T
IMPORT? - Vader - xxx
xxx - xxx - xxx

Evans - Virgilio
BMB - IMPORT?
Solomon - xxx

Miller - xxx

The only player missing from that roster is Gibson, who we all have assumed will be traded next season for a young body and some picks. We should have enough picks to plug the hole on 2nd line LW with an OA acquisition in 2025-2026. But if we were to deal anyone else off our roster this season other than Vader, we would probably not have enough to plug the holes 2 seasons from now.

If Martin is as special as we all believe, he may be gone after 2025-2026 without having a chance to lead this team on a run of his own.

Also, consider that Raftis has pretty much kept intact his full cupboard of picks for 2024 as it stands right now. If Martin does play his 19 year old season (2026-2027), those picks would become the supporting cast for a run that season. Any further moves this year would require depleting those 2024 picks and hamstringing Raftis' ability to build something around Martin.

Some people will say you don't worry about the future when you are going for it. To them I will ask, then why was Martin off the table to begin with?

I'm thinking there's more to the Martin story than us peons are privvy too in terms of why he was never on the table to begin with

That's a pretty solid back end veteran wise, throw in a couple solid imports (keeping in mind we'll need to pickup two in the draft this year to report and will have two seasons to mature into solid contributors), maybe get a good couple players in the draft this year and next and/or FA pickups, it's doable

can add keegan gillen to the defence. if we can draft as well as we have the last couple of years, there's no reason to believe we can't make some noise in 25/26. it's also about development, and we do that better than most teams. Gibby will net us a return of a couple of good picks to add to the cupboard. our 07s drafted are all dynamite. Martin, Hayes, Solomon, Smith, Gillen. that's a hell of a nucleus to build around

I would love to add Gillen, and will do so the moment he is signed.

I agree, the recent drafting gives us reason to be optimistic, but any further moves this year makes it difficult to remain optimistic. You can't hit on picks if you don't have picks.

These are our next 4 years of picks in rounds 2-4:
2nd-4th
NB 4th
LDN 4th
--4th
NB 4th
---
--4th

Ultimately that's where recouping picks during off-years would have helped us this year, and subsequently down the road to build around Martin. Are we going to end up short a veteran or two this run? Will we face the same player/prospect/pick crunch in 2 or 3 years?

If we win this year it's worth whatever hurt we face in the future imo. But if we flop 2nd round and find ourselves in the same boat in a few years (short picks, prospects) was it worth it? We can all have different opinions but in the end results don't lie or have biases.
