you guys definitely need to make some more moves now that Saginaw made those 2.

What picks do you have left?

I wonder if kingston sells ludwinski after seeing the price all these guys are going for
We were better than them before deadline and made similar additions. It's still a toss up at worst.

Mike Oke is putting on a show this deadline. How is he getting first round picks for second pairing defensemen? I've never seen trades like that and he's done it twice. Very, very impressive.

Oke is having a good deadline after a league title ++

Who is then?

Very very confident they will win the OHL this year
If there were odds for the OHL, it's extremely unlikely that they would be any better than like 6:1.

I don't mean that in a disrespectful way, it's actually good. It's just odd to be so confident since hockey is so difficult to predict.

I don’t do betting lol but they’d definitely have the highest odds

They have by far the best team on paper.

Saginaw?

I'd say their defence is better. Forwards and goalies not so much.
I’m a 7 game series vs you guys for example I’m taking their defence and goaltending over yours. Forwards are around the same imo. Maybe slight edge to Saginaw.

However London has a really good playoff goalie.

He will give them a chance to win with him alone. And I’m sure London isn’t done making moves here. (Also best coach in league too obviously)

I wouldn’t take Saginaw goaltending over ours

That's a wild statement about a team that has been around 4th place all season. I think it’s a tossup between 4 teams. Anything else is a pretty insane statement.

Oke is alright, but goaltending could sink them. There's also tremendous defensive issues that may or may not be addressed by the new additions.

The Soo has had their number, has gotten under their skin this year and made equally big additions. Goaltending is a a similar problem that could cause big issues in the playoffs.

Kitchener has been the best team in the league all year and can still add so I'm not ready to write them off.

London has the better defense (as well as the Soo) and an elite goaltender with championship experience.

Then there's Guelph and Owen Sound, who they haven't even played yet. They probably have to get through 3 of these teams.

If a team cruises through a weak Eastern Conference, you might see a 2018 situation where a far less talented team wins well.

I don’t think they need more major moves all the moves Saginaw made were just to match us. We’ve made some moves to counter to stay ahead. Really what we need is to add a couple veteran physical left wingers for the 3rd and 4th line who can chip in offensively and be gotten for decent price. Not super necessary but possibly a 5/6 veteran physical defensive dman.

Hounds can go for it as is now if they want and still compete next year and year after. Saginaw is going to have a 5 year rebuild after this season.

That’s debatable I still like our blue line better top to bottom wise. Saginaw has the better top pairing no doubt ththough.
What is the top pairing? Kudryavtsev is the best all around defenseman on either team, but his partner Karki is a liability defensively. Parekh is a more extreme version of Karki. Better offensively, but extraordinarily poor in his own end. The Greyhounds feast when he's on the ice 5-5. I don't think he's better than Hache right now.

I'd put up Donovan and Hache against Kudryavtsev and Gibson in a hypothetical matchup. That's a tough call, very close.

What ever happened to Tyler Savard? He’s the type of guy we need to upgrade dintino for that 3rd line LW spot. Is he not playing any more ?

It's interesting to think about the kind of players that could be on this team right now if not traded away/waived
Savard
Boudreau
Hookey
Van De Ven
Clattenburg
Moses
Kostov

Raftis not showing much love for players with jam

Savard was a good trade last year at the time they got some good assets for him in a down season. Clattenberg and kostov were decent role players but replaceable through trade still. Gavin Hayes is a bonified power forward and sniper and top line player that helped solidify our top 6. We still have good assets left to get some high quality upgrades for the bottom 6 that would make us tougher to play against.

Playing in GOJHL in Caledonia. 7 points 5 games ( 5 goals 2 assists ).
Damn wtf? How could he have fallen off so much? Last year in the Hounds he was fire minus the bad penalties. He could fight hit and score and had decent hands

Not a fan of Saginaw but correct me if I’m wrong- they were injured for a bit to start year? Or what was up with that? What’s their record since they got christopolous and dionicio?

Me personally I believe it’ll be you guys or Saginaw coming out of the west but my team to watch would be London. Kitchener will fall as they’ve made pretty much 0 moves. Owen sound will rise as they now have Barlow back and made some good trades.

I always hear the east is so weak but the last couple of ohl champions have been from the east lol so not sure how accurate that is

Saginaw will not have a 5 year rebuild lol. Since they bought hard this year they’ll probably sell hard next year. Guys like parekh, hay, Willis alone will get them a boat load of picks and players

Also if they decide to trade Misa (they likely won’t as he will fill the stands) that would get them an amazing return. I say 2 year rebuild max

From what I heard from a source in barrie- locker room cancer and takes very bad penalties at very bad times (not sure about kingston 100% but it fits the mold)

I don't recall their top players being injured, but they were giving up a lot of goals. Parekh was like minus 12 at one point. They've fixed 5-5 play a bit, but they are still a team that struggles in games where there aren't many penalties. That could have been the case in the early going. I'm a big Oilers fan and their season has been similar in a lot of ways. Big stars that shine on special teams, but the bottom half of roster and goaltending is weak.

No disrespect to the East champions, especially last year, but a lot of weak teams have snuck in because the West is so competitive. The East hasn't beaten the West head to head in literally decades. They are 26 games under .500 this year, which is about normal.
