I'm also not ashamed to say I want us to tank the rest of the year to chase the #1 pick. Is there a consensus #1 ranked player so far?
Ryan Roobroeck i think. and he's a special talent. could very well walk in and score 70 points.

i'm glad we got some picks but thought we could have gotten close to what zito brought in. mind you that was to Niagara and they're a bit off the rocker these days.

not sure if we have anymore to sell. at least we have some more assetts.

Although i will say, that's a pretty good haul for an 11th round draft pick lol

I think it's a fair return considering none of the picks are conditional. If there was a condition on some picks for an OA season we probably would have gotten closer to what Zito returned.

It's gonna be hella tough NOT to tank.

The issue is if with these draft picks can the Hounds draft players that are going to make an impact in this league. As far as I am concerned, Raftis may have to revamp his scouting staff and bring in people with a keen eye to draft impact players. The last few drafts have not been very good ones for the Hounds.

i'm thinking more of a deadline acquisition next season than who we draft tbh. we needed some 2's and 3's and got some. but i agree that our scouting dept has laid some eggs the last few years.

is watson on his way out the door next?

2, 3, 3, 4 is pretty fair, great if you think of it as a return on an 11th pick; but not close to Zito for Podolioukh, 2, 2, 3, (3, 5)*

Do we know if Allard will be returning at some point this season? Hate to think he’s about to lose an entire season to that injury .

Allard scheduled to return mid February and Schenkel in possibly 2 weeks.

However, nothing on Tanner Dickinson.

Well, feels good to beat a team that just loaded up. But it really wasn't a good game at all. Greyhounds had lots of short passes under no pressure that were way off the tape. But Kitchener was just god awful until they finally woke up part way through the third.

Is it possible for a team to add Arcuri, Zhilkin, Moore and get worse, not better?

i could see 3 new guys throwing off the timing/rhythm at first for sure.

nice to see some points from further down the lineup, something we have seen very little of this season.

Depends on who is driving the bus.

Kitchener didn't address their core issue in my opinion, which was a strong defensive blueliner.

Moore has always been a great powerplay guy, but is very weak in his own end. Brzustewicz is a similar type of player and Hamara has looked really weak defensively in my viewings. Schmidt and Motew are solid, but I feel like Moore was the wrong type of addition and it showed last night, as he made a number of blunders.

Yeah, there was no sandpaper to their game at all. No real forecheck to pressure our breakout so even with the Greyhounds not connecting with clean passes they had time to recover and still get out of the zone clean. No real resistance through the neutral zone, and the Greyhounds had a number of good offense shifts really getting the cycle going. But it was more a result of Kitchener's unwillingness to engage us in any of the 3 zones. It's not just their defense, their forwards need to do a much better job applying pressure on the puck carrier.

Maybe they just laid an egg last night, and maybe a change on the coaching side might right the ship (as many Rangers posters have been yammering for). But as it stands right now that team does not scream contender to me.

I never saw the Moore trade coming. For me, I’d have upgraded the D with, as you said, a strong stay at home guy with an edge to his game.

(Morton out of Erie?) But if that guy wasn’t out there as an OA, then I’d have explored Hache and then, if I still wanted to upgrade Serpa’s OA spot, gone after an OA RW with an edge.

As we sit now, having not addressed our lack of toughness, we’re going to be a very easy team to play against this post season.

Couple thoughts from last night.

- i like sirrizotti. I think the kid will score a lot of goals next year. Really smart player
- wasn't big on drafting BMB 4th overall but he's won me over this year. He's a stud and with some more supporting help next year he should be lights out.
- virgilio took a beating last night. I counted at least 6 times a penalty could have been called but nothing. I really like his game and think he's gonna be a really good d in this league.
- love the rough game that clattenburg and kostov play. We've been missing that in past years

I still hope we get a top 2 pick. I dont mind losing as long as its an entertaining game. These kids don't seem to quit which is good. Im kind of on the fence about possibly opening the pocketbook for a stud 04 this year. Like an owen beck or aiden castle...maybe offer some picks and mignosa. I like mignosa but I think he needs a change of scenery. He seems to be in a prolonged funk. Could possibly benefit both parties.

Braden Hache is just the type of player that the team needs, I agree with you. Moore is a good player, no doubt, but I feel like he supplements an area that is already a strength.

Arcuri was a really nice addition. I liked that add for the Rangers to add some scoring punch at a reasonable cost.

For what we gave up to get Moore and Zhilkin, we could have acquired Hache, Savard and still had a little left over to go towards bringing in a decent veteran third line center with grit.

That would have been three adds to address our serious lack of sandpaper.
