But agree with sexaul assault. I dont know man.. that's a horrible take.
I'm with you on this one. We're supposed to forget about a sexual assault because almighty David Branch handed out a favour to one of his buddies?

The fact that an adult is allowed to play junior hockey does not absolve him of his crimes or make him immune to criticism. I think it's a bad look for fans and bad for the league. I said it when he was reinstated and stand by it. The NHL took the right path with Miller, but this league has always been driven by finances and favouritism.

How about current NHL players?

Matt Murray
Darnell Nurse
Jared McCann
Colin Miller
Wayne Simmonds
Jeff Carter
Nick Ritchie
Barrett Hayton
Nick Cousins
Robin Lehner
Jack Campbell
Tony DeAngelo

A few off the top of my head anyways

HP's take is so bad that it actually resulted in HFP, Fischhaber and myself all agreeing on something for the first time in the history of HF Boards.

Get off your high horses. Nobody is condoning sexual assault.

Anybody guilty of sexual assault should have to answer to the criminal justice system. Check. Think the sentence was too light? Petition the government.

Protect minors by limiting contact with the offender. Check.

Allow the offender to reenter society. Check.

Our criminal justice system is built on the principle of rehabilitation. He is not putting the public at risk.

I am sick to death of cancel culture. The punishment needs to fit the crime. The criminal justice system takes care of that. But all social media and keyboard warriors want is someones head. Every time. Enough.

Nope, but nice try. He has been held accountable. You all still want him hanged after already been held to account.

I think we just think the accountability he was held to was a joke and wrong.

This type of "accountability" leads to fake rehabilitation and repeat offenses.

You alluded to the criminal justice system... are you blind? The criminal justice system is so wrong and there is almost no rehabilitation. Repeat offenders constantly in the Soo, and everywhere else.Both systems are wrong. For crying out loud you live in a city where a guy cut another man up, was let out in a corrupt manner, and has repeated twice since the murder. Wake up.

I think you honestly dug yourself a hole, then reached over the top and buried yourself.

You persist in throwing around the term "sex offender". In point of fact....the sex was CONSENSUAL !!! The criminal act was in recording the act without consent, and distributing the video...again without consent. Had that not been done, there wouldn't have been a charge. While that recording/distribution was repugnant, there was NEVER any charge of rape, or force used.

I don't believe that anyone has questioned how his crimes took place, but more the perceived severity of them.

When your defense of a criminal is "at least he didn't rape anyone", that's usually not a good start.

I see that you are also inclined toward identifying this as a sexual assault ( your words). This is like a statement from the past president of the USA, where he makes the assertion, and in his mind, it becomes fact. Now I will ask you this: What proof do you have that what you've stated, actually took place ???

PS: David Branch might also resent your implication questioning his integrity.

If you think the accountability was too lenient, your beef is with the justice system as I have already said. From Mailloux's standpoint, he has done all that was asked of him.

As far as the justice system goes, it's not perfect by any means. But it's also not as broken as many other countries, and it's a big part of why I choose to live here. I don't always agree with it, but I respect it.

He is not a repeat offender. Stop treating him like one.

I get that you want to defend a player on your team, but I don't think it's appropriate to question the facts of this case when the player himself didn't fight the charges.

I won't make any further responses to you, as your questioning of the victim's credibility and the investigation is highly disrespectful, much the same as hockey pops defense of rape culture. Nothing ever changes if you put blinders on and ignore what happens in the game. We've all had teammates like Mailloux that we should have called out in the past and didn't. Things need to change.

You are stupid eh?

That's still a offensive sexual act.
It's still a form of RAPE.

You're part of the problem.

You are extremly stupid.

The proof is he was charged. Go back under the bridge you came from. Don't come in here trying to belittle people that are against sexual assault, and act like WE are the people in the wrong you sickos. I gained a whole new level of disgust the last 24 hours here. You're all entitled to your opinions but when your opinion becomes a problem to society you need to probably reevaluate.

I'm moving on from this topic and this is my last reply. I'm muting several individuals involved as well. Good day everyone!

much the same as hockey pops defense of rape culture.
Hmmmm, where exactly did I do this?

It would be nice if people didn't keep attributing remarks to me that I didn't make.

I am not trivializing his crime at all. My argument is that once a punishment has been served, that the individual deserves another chance. It's what our justice system is built on. If this is a hill then it's one worth dying on.

I guess that some folks just feel more comfortable, when they're among the mob carrying the pitchforks, and getting their jollies by hecklling a player who's acknowledged his mistake. I'll leave you all to your comfort level.

Anyway, moving on.

Soo @ Erie on Thursday. Erie hot off a big home win vs Ottawa last night, handing Ottawa only it's second loss this season.
Soo @ Miss on Friday. Missy currently 3rd best in the east but slipping and on a 2 game losing streak. Although those two losses were to Peterborough and Ottawa. Brendan Taylor gets to meet his old team.
Soo @ Hamilton on Sunday. Hamilton also on a 2 game losing streak (Ottawa and Saginaw).

Soo will need to start clawing back some wins, currently sitting 3 games below .500. It will be a tough road trip, I would think taking 3 points out of 6 should be considered a success for this team.

Call me crazy, but I see 3 shootout losses :) But we get our 3 points for the trip.

The forward depth on this team is really starting to concern me. Looking at all the players that are eligible to be back, grouped by birth year, I have put an asterisk beside the names who might need to up their games to warrant a roster spot next year.

2003s
Savard
* D'Intino
* Brzustowski
* Ivanov

Notes: only 3 OA spots, and only Savard is a lock for next season IMO. Each of the others could certainly contribute as an OA, but with only 3 spots they may need to show more to earn it.

2004s
McConnell-Barker
Kudryavtsev
Schenkel
Carlisle
Allard
Toms
* Ballard
* Hookey
* Van De Ven

Notes: Ballard and Hookey need to show more. Van De Ven hasn't gotten much game action, but as an '04 he needs to make the most of his limited opportunities.

2005s
Gibson
Cloutier
Mignosa
* Clattenburg
* Good
* Moses

Notes: Good really hasn't had much game action. Clattenburg and Moses haven't shown much offensively, even with limited opportunity on the 4th line. Lack of depth in our prospect pool will probably save them a roster spot next year, but more offense should be the focus for the rest of the season. Clattenburg not afraid to mix it up with 3 fighting majors already. Maybe Moses should fight more too; his only point came a period after he dropped the gloves vs. Flint.

2006s
Brown
Kostov
Virgilio

Notes: none of these 2006s are in jeopardy for next season.

Final thoughts:
We are graduating 4 players next year through attrition. We quite possibly might find that we have more young players pushing for spots than we have spots for naturally, which may put pressure on the existing players on the roster. Here are the players pushing for spots next season:

likely:
- '06 Miller G (signed)
- '06 baby McConnell-Barker D (signed)
- Import
- '07 first rounder
- '07 second rounder
- '07 fourth rounder
- '06 5th rounder Tate Vader F

unlikely:
- '06 13th rounder Troy Hunka (American)
- '05 7th rounder Charlie Lewinski (Connecticut Commit '24-'25)
- '04 4th rounder Rutger McGroarty (UofM)
- '04 6th rounder Jax Bellwood
- '04 8th rounder Justin Varner (MSU commit '23-'24)

Conor Timmins and Mac Hollowell both joining the Leafs blueline alongside Sandin and Muzzin. Dubas loves his Greyhounds.
