I’m just happy that we will have a new GM and Coach. I want to see a new culture on the team that doesn’t consist of everyone getting along and management being approachable.

Ya we sure are going to miss Dubas’s 1 single round win in 7 years….5 of those years being under Dubas’s direct control. Ya that’s gonna be real hard to replace
The sad part from Dubas‘s perspective is if he hadn’t of used some lame presser to claim that he wasn’t sure he still wanted to be the GM and then when Shanny said he still wanted him even after that red flag he sends over a big contract ask he would still have the job.
This whole debacle lands squarely at Dubas’s feet

Maybe B/c spezza was a possible long-term add that could grow into a quality management employee in 5 years time
He wasn't adding value this year in a made up role, however he now had the chance to do so as Dubas was gone and he could serve in player development/scouting role helping identify new talent and work his way up the Org.
He didn't fail at this job, he quit prior to even attempting the job. The dude is a straight loser like all the other vets we had
He can work his way up another org if hes capable. We don't need management's loyal to dubas but rather to the leafs and developing their own careers.

Are there Shanny guys? Spezza was attached to Dubas for sure but I am sensing there is more going on than we know. I suspect the new GM will likely replace Keefe immediately or he'll be on a tight leash.

Completely agree. The next few weeks will separate the wheat from the chaff, with front office, coaching, and players. I'm guessing those who sulk, pout, make ridiculous demands, or air their dirty laundry in public aren't built for the Leafs moving forward.
This core has had multiple years to prove themselves and they have one round to show for it. Unacceptable. Spezza should have manned up if he wanted to be part of the organization and the players are going to need to be willing to leave some money on the table when negotiating their next contracts to stay.
My guess is the kid gloves and handing out blank checks are over.
Yes, that's what I was getting at. For all his faults -- and there are a few -- Shanahan undoubtedly understands the privilege that comes with being a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

There is a saying: The rising tide lifts all boats.
Normally, that's used to illustrate the benefit of some usually means the benefit of everyone else.
However, you can use that to gauge the mood of different people.
You don't need to measure the water lever itself, if the boats start rising, it's a clear sign the tide is coming up.
The Spezza resignation signifies the mood of the people in the organization that are closest to the players, and it should be inferred, the players as well.
Spezza had a unique role in the league -> immediately former player in the head office with unlimited connections throughout the league.
Players considering Toronto could just reach out to a peer (as close to a current player as could be), and ask about conditions here.
That's gone.
It may not seem like much, but when convincing players to come here, anything that could offset the (real or perceived) extra scrutiny or stress associated with Toronto, every bit is needed.
The closest we have left is Gio, but he's an active player and it's a little different.

That's not particularly the point to me.
Right now, the Leafs have much bigger things to think about than Kyle Dubas' future. Why should any of us care?
Dubas is not part of the team anymore and losing sleep over what this freaking guy does in his future career smacks of insecurity.
