Who honestly cares about Geertsen? Absolutely abysmal hockey player that had no business having an NHL contract and taking a spot from a kid in Hartford. I’m not worried about the toughness in Hartford, and I don’t think Geertsen was going to matter too much. You can send Bitetto down and have the same effect.

Just need Rempe to grow another 2 inches and put on an extra 60 pounds and top out as an AHL lifer and be the captain for the pack for the next 12 years.

I want someone like Geertsen playing 4th LW in Hartford not a prospect of any value. There are goons across the AHL, Bitetto is certainly not the answer.

hes on waivers so don’t worry

Hunt, Barron , Gauthier is the 5th line
Barron likely goes down after the team building trip

likely wanted Barron and Jones on the trip because they are important to the teams future

Lundkvist won that 3rd pairing spot last game imo
He’s like herpes, won’t go away

Yeah, and if they want a tough guy for Hartford, there are plenty to be found. I didn't mind having Geertsen around down there as his role was pretty clearly defined and he didn't take important minutes from anyone, but losing him is literally the least important transaction we've made in years.

The last two preseason games and first 10 reg season games are going to be really important for the kids in our top 9.

What happens if some of our heralded kids aren't cutting it in a top 9 role? Specifically Laf and Kravy.

Let's say we're 10 games into the season and whatever line Laf is on, isn't consistent or effective? And I'm not talking offensive output, I'm talking about going to the right areas, winning puck battles forechecking, cycling, break outs, being responsible with the puck. Kravy seems to have better habits from his KHL days, but Laf's got a whole bunch of juniors still in his game. He's yet to figure out how to play a 200 ft effective game when the dipsy doodles aren't there.

Last year, we did our best to ride it out with our younger players. We had no depth.

This year, there will be up to 3-4 forwards at any time who can step into the lineup. Mckegg, Gauthier, Hunt, Barron.

Laf and Kravy may have a top 9 to start the year but we could be in for some growing pains and fan frustration if they're not consistent. I don't think Gallant will be that shy to sit someone if they're not playing the right way. I think he's tolerant of mistakes but if guys just are inconsistent or ineffective and becoming a drag on their lines, that's a diff story.

Gonna be interesting.
Are you asking what to do with developing young players?

Play them.

Or do you want Phil Di Guiseppe back filling that LW slot on Kakkos line again?

No way. Especially not with Geertsen getting claimed.
I really don't think they will waive either Hajek or Gauthier.

But they don't have to decide quickly,
there are 2 more Preseason games, and, as w Krav,
some guys may get dinged,
and roster choices made/deferred by circumstance.

I’m fairly certain that the Rangers are shopping Hajek and looking at teams that have holes on defense. Hamonic hasn’t reported to Vancouver and may not be available to start the season. There will be other opportunities to move him. He will get picked off waivers so no need to rush a decision.

Good chance McKegg gets selected off waivers. Arizona a definite possibility. If not, Hartford.

The guy I’m curious about is Kravtsov. How injured? How was his camp? Hartford? Or perhaps part of a trade? Not sure where this is headed.

Does Krav not making the New England trip with the team mean he is not partaking in the team building activities? Pulled in the first period for LBI... Hmmmm

I have no inside knowledge but pretty sure he’s just banged up

Who said he didn’t travel w them?

Don't think it's necessary to settle the 3rd pair once and for all before the season start. Sure, it might give NL, ZJ, Tinordi, Schneider -- whomever gets the nod -- some extra comfort. But the schedule is tough and a lot will be going on if a kid gets the nod. In that perspective I think that its more positive than negative if the door is held open for a little longer and these kids are eased in.

Could be!

At the same time, some coaches are old fashioned about players being injured being held away from the team almost completely. Not sure exactly what the thought behind that approach is, but it seems like its intended to make sure that players that are out thrives to get back faster or something like that. I don't know.

It’s golf and a couple on-ice practices in Rhode Island. If Kravtsov is too banged up for sport-related activities, it makes sense the team would have him return to New York rather that carry on up to Rhode Island.
