I don’t get why everyone’s souring on Kravtsov all of a sudden, he got the most 3 stars votes on the team the first game he played, then the second game he only played one period where he probably looked better than his linemates Kreider & Mika then got injured?

I don't disagree, but can the FO really make decisions based off whether or not this kid will throw another hissy fit?

If he gets sent down, all he needs to do his play his ass off and he'll be back in a few weeks.
Ehh maybe in a perfect world they make decisions that way but every situation is different.

There’s a couple different things in play here to me. One is there’s a previous history with Kravstov and I’m sure Drury doesn’t want to have another Lias on their hands.

Two is the team has set the expectation he would be on the roster. They didn’t send him to development camp and the way the team has talked about him publicly, it seems pretty clear he’s going to make the team regardless

and three (although probably less of a factor) is Kravstov is prime trade bait for a long term center, whether it be Eichel/Larkin or someone else. Him not making the team when the team is sparse on RW isn’t a good look

You could make the argument they’re doing a similar thing with Lundkvist although he’s earned his spot.

Is it worth potentially damaging the relationship with a key asset for someone like Gauthier? Probably not

Still don’t understand the Nils beating out Zac Jones concept. If you watched all zones of play this pre-season, Jones has been a much better all around player. Besides one specific board play to the right of the goalie Nils was outmuscled off the puck a lot and weak on his in-zone play.

Zac Jones has looked infinitely better this pre-season. I’m a big Nils guy, but if anyone needs some NA AHL seasoning out of the two, it’s him.

Are you asking what to do with developing young players?

Play them.

Or do you want Phil Di Guiseppe back filling that LW slot on Kakkos line again?

You play them but they don't have to play in the NHL if they're struggling with consistency. I believe all of our young kids on the team are old enough to go to the A if they need to work on some things. I think the NHL team may be at a place where you need to create an expectation for style of play and consistency. If you keep multiple guys in your lineup that aren't being consistent and aren't playing the right way, it can begin to erode the overall structure of the team game. I think what's going to be most helpful to these prospects this year is giving them tons of opportunity but with high expectations in regards to consistency and effort level. If they are failing with the big team, send them down and give them tons of opportunity in the A and bring them back up when they're showing that consistency. It's not helpful to have Laf or Kravy in a top 6 role if they're not showing consistent effort. It hurts the whole team and team identity. But by all means get them lots of ice time at whatever level they're proving they're ready for. We have quite a bit of depth. Going to play in the A won't be nearly as negative as it has in the past. There are several other top prospects down there.

Who has been souring on him?

Tinordi would never clear waivers.
How can you be so sure of that? He's played nearly four times as many AHL games as NHL games in his career. He was waived and got pretty high up the waiver order last season, but the Bruins had an upcoming game against Tom Wilson. He was just a free agent so every team had a chance to bid on him, and he thought the Rangers offer was the best, so many other teams like him at this price?

I think it's very unlikely the Rangers waive him, but I think him clearing would be a distinct possibility.

Also worth noting that Pitt won't have Malkin for the first month or so, ditto Hayes & Philly...need to make hay while your division rivals are dinged.
Yep. We surely didn't take advantage of it last year when we played the pens at pretty much half strength. Cost us dearly.
Let's hope we take advantage this season.

About the team building stuff (which now Vince has said he did make the trip, or will be joining them) and people saying that Gauthier, etc have earned it more than him and that he’s just being handed a spot.
It's been reported that Gauthier has had a better camp than VK. Goat has also flashed in the preseason games.

It's not "souring" if its simply the reality.

Goat is trying to make the team. Kratsov is on the team.

If that's Kravtsov's attitude coming into camp, that would be very disappointing. Think there's no way that is, though.
Its not his attitude, its straight from gallant.
When asked why he didnt have kratsov on the games v phi.
"He's not trying to make the team, we know what he can do".

If a team claimed Geersten, there's a strong possibility Tinordi is claimed.
