I'd do it, id need to know what the next contract was though.
Same here. If you get Zibby and Larkin locked up to solid deals your on your way. It’s a lot to give up, that that gives us an amazing 1-2 punch if they plan on making noise in the next 3-5 years.
Lindholm would also be a great add. If that’s the price for Larkin my guess Lindholm would be similar. Calgary doesn’t really want to move him, but there have been rumors of a shake up coming out of there for a while now.
Either guy would offer a different look from the Zibby line and hopefully diversify the offense a bit.
Hertl is good, but I wouldn’t want to trade young assets for a guy and then have to sign him to a Zibby like retirement deal.
As far as acquiring young signed centers go, you have to give to get, if they even become available.
This is all presumably if chytil shows he can’t handle the load 30-40 games into the season.
Going forward if you make the trade, you hope whatever player it is, isn’t making more then chytil s 2.3 and strome 4.5 cap hit combined for at least the next 5 seasons. At least in that range or so

Weren't the "rumors" either Lundkvist or Kravstov and a pick for Larkin? I wouldn't move both Chytil and Kravstov.

Kravstov and 2023 #1 for Larkin. Move Strome to the wing. Then you have center depth of Zib, Larkin, Chytil and Rooney. Of the Rangers are out of it come trade deadline could get a pretty penny for Strome. Could likely replace that pick dealt for Larkin in the Strome trade.
You get a top-6 center in his prime for no current NHL talent? I doubt it

Chytil needs to go the other way

McKegg waived? Notable because Mercogliano said they could want him on the roster because he's a center. I think if you're down to playing McKegg because of an injury that's too short-term to call up Morgan Barron, you'd just move Goodrow over

Drury now needs to go find another goon to protect the AHL kids. Pretty sure that there are some sour grapes from the Front Office twds The Devils "schrewd" move here. Interesting. Looks like we may be losing Gauthier and Hajek for nothing - because if Geertson gets claimed - there is likely not a snowballs chance in hell that they will make it through. . . Not really a huge deal , but more and more of the assets acquired during "The Great Rebuild" are leaking out the sandbag one by one - with very little to show for it.

This is the Devils looking around and realizing they need some way to counter Reaves and Johnston. I’m saying that, it would be nice to have another tough guy for Hartford now…

To be fair, their market value is pretty close to nothing anyways.

If we lose Hajek for nothing and Nils turns out bust (I don't think that) than I don't think I will ever fully recover from this:

The last two preseason games and first 10 reg season games are going to be really important for the kids in our top 9.

What happens if some of our heralded kids aren't cutting it in a top 9 role? Specifically Laf and Kravy.

Let's say we're 10 games into the season and whatever line Laf is on, isn't consistent or effective? And I'm not talking offensive output, I'm talking about going to the right areas, winning puck battles forechecking, cycling, break outs, being responsible with the puck. Kravy seems to have better habits from his KHL days, but Laf's got a whole bunch of juniors still in his game. He's yet to figure out how to play a 200 ft effective game when the dipsy doodles aren't there.

Last year, we did our best to ride it out with our younger players. We had no depth.

This year, there will be up to 3-4 forwards at any time who can step into the lineup. Mckegg, Gauthier, Hunt, Barron.

Laf and Kravy may have a top 9 to start the year but we could be in for some growing pains and fan frustration if they're not consistent. I don't think Gallant will be that shy to sit someone if they're not playing the right way. I think he's tolerant of mistakes but if guys just are inconsistent or ineffective and becoming a drag on their lines, that's a diff story.

Gonna be interesting.

I susoect its more likely NYR waive Tinordi than Hajek
Folks here love having 'whipping boys'
(see Pionk, Neil)
and Hajek is that lately.
But he is a young guy w skill and size, and the new staff should have full opportunity to find him a contributing role

No way. Especially not with Geertsen getting claimed.
