My takeaways from this game...

1) We desperately need a dependable 2nd pairing to emerge. Maybe Miller-Trouba can be that but we will see

2) Chytil has the wheels, just needs to polish his game a bit.

3) Eichel was invisible

4) A bit concerned that this screening problem for Shesterkin is going to become a thing that's noted around the league. He's small and struggling to pick the puck up a lot.

Why would he want to come here.

The one thing I took from this game is that Eichel is content to play on the perimeter and doesn’t get into the dirty areas. I’ve pointed this out before. He doesn’t pay the price and isn’t a winning hockey player.

The bottom 4 defense is horrid. Jack Johnson simply can’t play at this level. He’s just not good enough.

Smith can be the #6, but preferably the #7. The next wave of kids on D can’t get here soon enough.

Also, I thought Mika played well tonight. Not sure why he’s still getting killed. He created both of that line’s goals.

Like he had a fire under his ass. The kid was an animal for most of the game.

These days I will take a Mika helping to create two goals. We really know who drives the offense on this team and would be nice to get him back soon. Hopefully in the future guys like Laf and Kakko can contribute big time in creating magic in the o zone.

Trash game. Barely hung on against a horrible Sabres team in disarray. managed a paltry 19 sog. I would rather have lost this game, would have at least put more heat on Quinn's seat.

Miller's not driving offense at all. Doing mostly solid things on defense, but that's about it.

He had a chance to really ride someone into the boards and held up. I'd like to see him be a little more physical when given the opportunity.
