Agreed. All he did was add fuel to the fire. Maybe that was his intent? Anyway, I totally agree with you, Power Rangers didn't exactly play a whale of the game, and easily Valley could have been noting how the Rangers were completely listless from mid 2nd on. Pretty awful, I'd say. But they won, move on.
Maybe it was more of a the rangers looked so bad and still won kinda take? I mean they both played pretty embarrassing. The amount of falling down and giveaways on both sides was akin to first year peewee.

quick edit: God Fox had 3 take aways.

What freaking game was Vally watching??? The final two periods was a joke. We barely sustained any pressure.
He picked the wrong time to bash the Sabres like that. Maybe he should have done bashing of the guys wearing the blueshirts after those final 40 minutes.

Vally looked very angry but I think it was more Valley saying how did the Sabres not win that game without bashing the Rangers. I think it was a reverse Rangers bash.

Another game where 6'5" K'Andre fails to put a body on anyone. I'm really hoping for one of those "coward of the county" moments where Tommy stops and locks the door, and he unleashes a can of unholy whoopass on someone, but I am getting concerned. I know he's a rookie and he's been far better than expected but the new car smell is wearing off for me a little. I mean with JJ on this roster he's always going to be at least the 4 or 5 but what is the deal?

A coward of the county reference...Lol!

He was never a physical player. Hs draft year he was touted as that but that was so not the case. That part of the game I don't think is teachable. I don't think players will ever develop a mean streak. With that said, this kid is a tremendous player. I think he's only scratching the surface.

Rangers D will have the physical side of the game covered so K'Andre i don't think needs to play that way. I likely wouldn't hurt, but i dont think were going to see that.

Trouba can play that game
Lindgren can play that game
Schneider can play that game
Even Lundqvist can and does play a physIcal game.

These same words could have been applied to the Rangers several times this year as well.

This win is slightly better than the shootout win they had against Philly a few weeks ago since they were good for a few minutes.

Reminds me of when Joe Thornton and the Sharks came in and said the Rangers are an easy team to play against cause they are soft. Very telling how other teams, or commentators perceive other players or clubs.

Why is Brendan Lemieux still in the NHL?
Thank you. he can't clear the zone, can't handle the puck for longer than half a second, doesn't win board battles, and can't stay on his feet along the boards with the puck. He does go the net. He's last year's Howden basically. I think I've even seen more big hits from Howden than Lemieux this year too. Can't wait for Kakko to bump Lemieux out of the lineup.

Maybe, but wasn't it post game Devils 5-2 loss where he looked defeated and astonished at how the Rangers gave up 3 in 3rd to lose AFTER a Vally prediction of a great 3rd incoming vs a covid affected Devils team?

Lets face it. This team has usually been unpredictable for the most part, and this year is no different. Top much flux in personnel, (covid or otherwise) the youth (which lends itself to inconsistency) and Quinn not really having a grip on his personnel in whats supposed to be a "developmental/transitional year".

Vally can produce all the stats he wants, but when push comes to shove, we never really know what we will see from one game to the next. What we "almost" do know, is that a win (especially a good win) isn't followed up with the same.

THIS is what Kreider was subliminally stating, as he fears that "just because we won" doesn't mean it was played well, and if its more of the same vs Devils, they will lose.

I simply want to see progression and something resembling exciting hockey. Snoozefests and teams going through the motions be damned!

I watched this game and I couldn’t get past some of the astounding stats from the Sabres better players. Hall, Eichel, Skinner, Dahlin, etc.... WOOF.

I made a post about k'Andre a little earlier in regard to this. Yes it's concerning, but I kind of wonder if he was taught, because of that long reach and stick of his.... that he's better off using his stick to his advantage, opposed to his body which may take him out of plays. I dunno, just wondering. In this league though, it may behoove him to do that, and try to establish a mean streak.
Smith with all his liabilities, can help him with that.

Really enjoyed the part tonight where Mika almost tripped over himself while standing still.

Was waiting for a gif of that. Rewound to try to figure out what happened. That says it all.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that during the first power play. That was hard to watch.

lol I know its cool to rag on him but that's the shitty MSG ice. It's been terrible all year, players are constantly falling over nothing, opposing broadcasts discuss it often.

Thank you. How was Mika bad? He looked very good imo. Was behind both of the first two goals and his line had some solid extended pressure that didn’t convert.
He flubbed a beautiful change of pace, sharp pass from Laf that would have turned a 2 on 1 into a breakaway for Mika. Guys were already seeing the headlines, 'From bust, to busting out: Rangers rookie with first multi-point game' until Mika ruined it lmao. Shit happens, Mika had a very good game and was much more noticeable imo. He's putting himself and his linemates in positions to score.

The bottom 4 defense is horrid. Jack Johnson simply can’t play at this level. He’s just not good enough.

Smith can be the #6, but preferably the #7. The next wave of kids on D can’t get here soon enough.

Also, I thought Mika played well tonight. Not sure why he’s still getting killed. He created both of that line’s goals.
Fortunately we have a lot of defensive talent on the way. Miller has been shaky lately. No surprise, Trouba has been out. When Trouba comes back then it's only the bottom pair, which is easier to hide and will be replaced by young in house talent over the next couple of years. They just need two of Lundkvist, Schneider, Reunanen, Jones, Robertson to hit. Let's not overreact.

Quinn sugarcoated that he wasn't a fan of Igor trying for the ENG at the end, but honestly, he might be the best option to do so at that point... a win is a win otherwise. Hope they play (much) better Thursday
Hank did that a few times as a rookie, until one time his attempt was blocked in our zone and of course the opposing team ended up tying it up. I don't think he ever tried again.

Shesty has a harder shot and is a way better puck handler, but coaches still don't love it. 'Clear the zone with no icing if no one is open' is their take on it. I'm fine with it of course lol

Then we ended up with more points and got further in the playoffs in those playoffs.

I don't remember that in his rookie season but I thought in an early but later season he tried it against Philly up 3-1 and then Philly scored but we still won 3-2.

I wasn't ragging on him. I just said it was tough to watch, which it was. He's struggling to do basic things on the ice, such as handle the puck & hit the net with one timers. Tripping over his own feet last night basically summed up his entire season thus far.

Yeah I don't recall Hank trying for the open net, but I do remember how awful he was at playing the puck and it burned us a couple of times when he flubbed it trying to get it around the boards or clear the zone with the other team pressing to tie it. Out of all his insane talent, playing the puck for him - I just wanted him to stop a shoot-in behind the net for his D and quickly get back to the blue paint lol (full disclosure, I'm one of his biggest fans :) )

I always was very scared when ever he left the net to touch the puck.
