Team got worse as the game went on. The compete level dropped. The motor slowed down. They became much less engaged. If it wasnt for a handful of players and the goalie, they would have lost. They held on and got lucky. 2nd period onward, even really towards the latter half of the 1st, it was a typical DQ team unmotivated look.

RE: Mika

I thought he was one of the guys that looked good out there. His skating had much more jump than usual, looked more like himself. Hope he builds off this.

Quinn sugarcoated that he wasn't a fan of Igor trying for the ENG at the end, but honestly, he might be the best option to do so at that point... a win is a win otherwise. Hope they play (much) better Thursday

Big game for Howden on Thursday, if he goes scoreless it will be 30 straight games without a goal dating back to last season.

I still remember how he started looking kind f like he had some potential his first 15 or so games, and there was just zero development or improvement from that point on.

Even this season he started off playing very well (for him). I was shocked. But now...ugh. I can’t stand him. I still don’t like to use him as a punching bag because he’s not the only problem with this team.

Right after they kicked our dicks in for 50 minutes was probably not the best time to savage the Sabres
What freaking game was Vally watching??? The final two periods was a joke. We barely sustained any pressure.
He picked the wrong time to bash the Sabres like that. Maybe he should have done bashing of the guys wearing the blueshirts after those final 40 minutes.

The bottom 4 defense is horrid. Jack Johnson simply can’t play at this level. He’s just not good enough.

Smith can be the #6, but preferably the #7. The next wave of kids on D can’t get here soon enough.

Also, I thought Mika played well tonight. Not sure why he’s still getting killed. He created both of that line’s goals.
Yep no doubt. I like Smith but it's clear the guy is so inconsistent and when makes a wrong read or decision the chances going the other way are really dangerous. JJ forget about it. He has had a few good pk shifts but that's about all he can do.

When we get rid of the trillion dollars in dead cap money we have on the books maybe we can invest a few bucks (short term) in a decent bottom 5/6 guy until the next crop of kids on defense are ready.

Good on Quinn, at least he had the fewest minutes among all players tonight. I do wonder if he is headed to the press box when Kakko and Bread return, I'm sure it will just be rotating all the bottom guys in and out if everyone is healthy.

I hate when they come out like the walking dead. It drives me freaking crazy. Your pros dammit, where’s you fire? That’s honestly my biggest gripe with Quinn

I really dislike our play in the offensive zone. Nobody ever seems to have any space.

Hated the way they played as the game went on too. Just awful and lifeless. Shesterkin did a great job keeping them in the game.

That being said, a win is a win.

He had a chance to really ride someone into the boards and held up. I'd like to see him be a little more physical when given the opportunity.
Saw that as well and he's passed up numerous other chances at doing so. Plays like a wussy boy that doesnt hit, and probably doesnt want to be hit.
He's my avatar for 2 years now, but I need him to be much more daunting, make people pay for even stepping in his zone. Hope he's not too attached at the hip to Trouba. Has the tools to be a #1, now use them. Might be asking a bit too much, right now, not used to this type schedule, me thinks. Okay, I am pushy.

Sam said Trouba’s return is imminent or something like that. Is it really close?

Miller, the Rangers need Trouba back to settle the defensive pairings. Hajek - Smith should be 3rd pair. When Smith plays 10-12 min as LD he’s pretty decent.

I hate to be the one to say it but Mika looks like one big hit would end his season. Crazy.

Agreed. All he did was add fuel to the fire. Maybe that was his intent? Anyway, I totally agree with you, Power Rangers didn't exactly play a whale of the game, and easily Valley could have been noting how the Rangers were completely listless from mid 2nd on. Pretty awful, I'd say. But they won, move on.

Huge Mika fan here. For the love of God, please sit him. Indeed it does look that way. Is he playing really going to change anything? Will he be able to work out whatever is making him be a less than Mika? Probably would behoove Mika (the human) to be sitting for a while.

Another game where 6'5" K'Andre fails to put a body on anyone. I'm really hoping for one of those "coward of the county" moments where Tommy stops and locks the door, and he unleashes a can of unholy whoopass on someone, but I am getting concerned. I know he's a rookie and he's been far better than expected but the new car smell is wearing off for me a little. I mean with JJ on this roster he's always going to be at least the 4 or 5 but what is the deal?

His last few games have been meh. It seems Trouba really helps him play the KAM game.
