Tonight’s a good night to make some hot cocoa, put on the fireplace (if you have one), and watch some Home Alone or Elf.

We had about 6-7 inches of snow. Around 3 it turned to sleet. All the precipitation that has fallen since has been sleet/freezing rain. We have a f***-ton of ice now. Ridiculous. Every room of the house, all you hear is ice on the roof, hitting the windows, etc.

I enjoy the different seasons and what they bring.

Sure, I’ll take a clear sunny day in the 70’s over wet rainy days, but even then I find some sort of enjoyment of being in a hurricane with no power for a few days. Experiencing the intensity of Mother Nature.

I can see how the Holidays can stress people out, but you know what’s more depressing than having to deal with the stress of family and traveling? Getting older and older and losing those closest to you and wishing you had 1 more holiday with them. So cherish the time you do have with them because they won’t be around forever.

Although I despise holiday shopping, seeing the joy and excitement in my nieces eyes when she’s unwrapping gifts melts my heart and makes me remember when I was her age and I was opening up GI JOES and Voltron toys on Xmas.

Also — some people don’t like warm weather. So palm trees and 80 degree weather sounds f***ing awful to me. Especially when it’s year round.

You’re absolutely right about Mariah Carey, Xmas music, and Ugly Sweaters. No arguments from me there.

I totally get that. As a kid when I was getting Nintendo games and saw family often it was cool. I also wasn't as adverse to the cold like I am now.

I don't get to spend much time with my family during the holidays as an adult. My immediate family doesn't do much if anything for various reasons and the sibling/cousins are off doing their own thing with their in-laws.

When I've had relationships there's been a lot of instability around this time of year. Maybe one day when I'm in a stable one I'll get in the spirit.

Until then it's just rubbish to me. Don't like it, the cold pisses me off, I hate getting the ice scrapper out for the car, and people getting all happy about snow drives me nuts. Get it over with and onto better pastures.

What happened to Saturday morning cartoons?!

They're not on in the traditional sense anymore. I used to watch all that stuff growing up, Ninja Turtles, Camp Candy, Gravedale High, Galaxy High, X-Men, Ghostbusers and whichever Super Mario Show was on, etc. and then it was Saved By The Bell and some combo of California Dreams/Mario Lopez's Name Your Adventure Show/Guys Next Store and onto WWF Superstars (the later few would be pre-empted by Rangers matinees which were more often on Sunday than Saturday if memory serves me right).

The only "cartoony" show I'm into now is Eric Andre lol and that's like a 13 minutes weekday break to stream.

Storm was a bit of a dud here in northern suburbs of Philly where I live(Bucks County). We got 5" tops

I did read that someplace near Binghamton I think or somewhere in NY state got 40" which is off the hooks nuts.

I appreciated the comparison between this storm and Buch. Great anticipation ahead of time. Playing in the right spot it would appear that production is high, but change location and it's not all that.

You're very welcome. There are metaphorical lessons that Quinn can take from this storm.

We got 11 inches in Danbury CT. I'm glad that we didn't get the 18 inches they were saying. This is more than enough.

Well, you're in luck. Sort of. There's a Saved By the Bell revival. But not shown on Saturday mornings.

I’ve lived in NYC for 7 years.

Don’t think a single snowstorm has “lived up” to the forecasts. They’re all duds. Can anyone think of one that has?

Well you're new so not recently, but in 2002 or maybe 2003, there was a crazy storm that happened and it snowed like crazy on 2 separate days right after the other. My whole block was buried and had snow up to the roof of cars.

Very glad I cleaned cars/my work van last night after most of the snow came down and it shifted to rain/sleet.

It would have been brutal if I had to deal with the snow+ice this morning.

Then the city plows the streets (eventually) pushing the snow even further onto the cars.
