Please show me where he is getting 4.4 a season please. Go back to making your stop the steal signs in your mother's basement

it's 2.2 AAV x 2 years = 4.4 mil contract. Not 4.4 AAV

I think the biggest problem is the difference between what Habs fans want for Price and what other teams, Oilers fans in this case, are willing to give up for him considering his uncertainty.

As an Oilers fan, I would take Price with 50% retention, but considering all the red flags, I wouldn't want to give up grade A assets for him. If he were to return and look great, then I'd be more open to it in the offseason, but if the trade is happening now, I wouldn't want to do it.

For me, it would have to be something like:
Price @50%
for
Barrie, Conditional 1st (If Price wins 8 playoff games, if not 2023 2nd and a 2023 4th) and B prospect.

Understandably, Habs fans want a positive return considering they are retaining for 5 years so I can see why they would want more.

Have you seen what the guy I responded to "offered"?

Price at 50% + Top prospect + 1st for Barrie

I mean, wtf?

Honestly, a meat and potatoes .netminder rolling .900 and in sub 2.5o GAA would work wonders. If the Oil are serious about Kane, target Halak - playoff experience and he can carry and steal games.

If there was a Mrazek deal to be made, I'm wondering how this would play out.

Leafs get Koskinen (EDM retains 16.6% to bring his cap hit to 3.8M$, same as Mrazek, and it's only for this season so no increased dollars on the cap than now)

Oilers get Mrazek

Leafs get a backup goaltender for this year, and free up money for Campbell. Problem being, if Campbell gets hurt, we're stuck with Koskinen like Edmonton is, and don't have any goalies under contract for next season.

Oilers get a better overall goaltender, though one with injury concerns, however they at least get him for a few years - and with the ugly goalie market this off-season, it may be better than paying inflated market rates or trading assets for players who may not be any better.

There's nothing really wrong with the Smith contract. The problem was thinking that Smith + Koskinen was good enough.

Yup. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that Smith had his last good season last year and for him to duplicate that at age 40 would most likely not happen again. Koskinen, is just an inconsistent goalie that was given a dumb $4.5 million AAV contract by Chirelli, who thought Koskinen would become a #1 goalie.

Now you have Holland. Other than Osgood, I don't think Holland ever drafted another good goalie(Osgood was good, but not great). He just recently passed up on that Swedish goalie prospect that had future #1 potential. When he was the Wings GM, Osgood he drafted, but Mike Vernon he traded for and Hasek I believe was signed as a free agent. So basically Holland seems to have better luck getting a goalie from another team then drafting his own.

Fleury would seem to be the goalie to go after, but Holland will have some competition in getting him as there will be 3 or 4 teams(Caps, Pens(I mention them because if Burke thinks the Pens are a serious top Cup Contender, he'll make sure they have playoff goalie insurance if Jarry falters in the playoffs), Avs(a maybe) and maybe another team) other that will go after Fleury.

Is his osteoporosis acting up again? Or did he fall off his walker?

He saw the Habs were in last place in the NHL and fell out of his chair.

How does Bourgault?

If were looking at " right now" then Holland should have traded that pick for an NHL player.

Getting Wallstadt could have solidified the crease for Edmonton for the next 10-15 years.
Bourgault might make the team next year. Very good chance the year after. What are the odds Wallstadt would. And in the mean time, the Oilers have this 23 year old dude sitting in the AHL who is also 6’4” and has a .925 sv % right now.

Mike Smith is injured again, reports are coming out that its non covid related and could possibly be a lingering issue from the same injury that has caused him to miss lots of games this year.

Edmonton needs goalie help ASAP as I dont think they are willing to throw another Mcdavid year down the drain.

Whos is realistically available and at what price?

I wonder how much would it cost the Oilers to get Stuart Skinner..... Oh wait nevermind.

Mrazek for Koskinen retained so that they're equal cap hits.

Maybe add Dermott and Lagesson if Edmonton wants to squeeze Toronto a bit to get a better deal.

Edmonton isn’t a playoff team as currently constructed and burning assets just to acquire a goalie to lose in the first round is terrible asset management.

This team isn’t winning a Stanley Cup, even with Vasileskiy.
