As of right now, I'd still take the Jets to win in the first round of the playoffs at even money odds. I'm down for avatar bets, charity bets, loser-leaves-town bets, hair-vs-hair bets, whatever. You name it. I'm putting any and all of that where my mouth is.

Effort from the drop of the puck is what will put this team back on the trolley tracks..........that and Ehlers and Buff...................and maybe a trade or 2.....oh who knows I'm not the coach

This is part of the reason why I think a trade is important. If there's a general sense of struggle and we don't know how to move around the pieces to stop making the team perform less than the sum of their parts, then more parts opens more opportunities. Fresh blood is gonna be exactly what the doctor orders IMO.

Why Wheeler & Scheifele & Connor ended up playing 18:14 & 18:38 & 18:59 mins of ice-time, respectively, in a 7-1 game that was over well before the final horn... I have no idea. I feel like that’s inexcusable coaching.

Once the game is over in a blowout like that, it seems to me that we should limit the minutes of some of the key players who typically play lots of minutes to preserve energy late in the season and prevent injuries to key players (and keep their legs as “fresh” as possible for Vegas Friday).
As odd as it sounds, Maurice feels this is a one line team.

That's a lot of red.

Better make it a 2x4 instead of smelling salts. PoMo probably needs something a little less subtle as salts

I meant more to wake up any and all posters who fainted dead on the spot from having seen it. But yes, maybe a visit from Hacksaw Jim Duggan will help Maurice out :P

Wheeler:

"It looked like we kind of gave up."

Someone mentioned to Maurice that one of the players had used the word "quit". I don't think he liked that, and I expect the team is going to find that out tomorrow. :madfire:

Let no one say we're not gracious house-guests.

It's like showing to a friends house with a couple of bottles of wine they say you shouldn't have but deep down inside they are saying it's a good thing you did, Jets being the opened bottle of wine left to breath and guzzled down mercilessly.

I like the post game comments -
Wheeler has actually called himself and the team out on their garbage play - about time
Lowry was awesome - he sounds like a player who's had enough - perfect.
Coach sounds pissed - also long over due.

Let's see what they bring next game - if it's no better, don't be surprised - these things can go rock bottom sometimes.
The bigger they are the harder they fall - the Jets are bad right now and they need to fall a bit before getting back up.

Listened to the pre-game show - it was stated that the coaches were up at 5:30 AM trying to figure strategies for the game...and this is the result?! Good grief!

It seems like the team has consistently been outplayed for the past month and a half..outshot, losing time of possession and to top it off, Maurice has been much to complacent in keeping his top line intact...with too many minutes allocated to two particular players.

Reading the criticisms of various players on the team from posters here and one name that is left out is Lowry. His defensive play has declined this year but his offense has dried up to practically nothing. Perhaps this is why the Jets are reportedly looking for a second-line centre. Little is a decent second line option but Lowry is such a black hole this year that they are looking to bump Little down to provide some offense on the third line.

It was our captain Blake Wheeler.

The leader of the quitters tonight.
lol
Yup. Maybe he could start by getting his line to try a bit in their own zone. Once the other team gets it into the Jets zone vs that line it is easy street.
