Does he want to fly under the radar though? If he has perfect behaviour here it will be on the front page everyday. If he has perfect behavior in Florida, nobody would know.

Your guess would be as good as mine. My point really is even if Toronto wants him, he might not want to play here.

I do agree with you that if he feels he can keep his act together then it would be better to play here

Gilmour was always known as a great teammate.

was he really?
accusations with a babysitter in st loo
walked out on his team in calgary forcing the trade
requested a trade out of toronto when he did not like things ...

seems he was all about dougie to me

Yes. You wanna play with McDavid/Draisaitl or not. Also he’s a western Canada boy. If Vancouver wasn’t an option, Edmonton is also a good fit.
As someone who lives in the GVA, has lived in Calgary, worked full time in the Edmonton area and is originally from the GTA no, Edmonton is not an equivalent or "good fit" trying to be near Van. Its not drivable so you gotta fly, and the cities couldn't be any different in pretty much every aspect. Geographically being "near" isn't relevant cause its still a 2 hour flight. There are plenty of other options within that flight time from YVR. The only draw is to boost value playing with either/and McDavid and Drai. period.

thank you for your insight, but I don't really care man. Everyone knows he wants to be in the west because of his daughter. A 2 hour flight is literally nothing, especially when you basically fly private. It's close enough. No one said anything about the cities being similar or being exactly like Vancouver. When I said a "good fit" I was purely talking about a hockey fit.

Yeah fair point, I don’t remember hearing of him as a bad teammate but then again we didn’t have the same insight we have these days.

Dubas needs a healthy, productive Marner and probably not another top 6 winger to steal his minutes. Kane likely makes them better as most of his issues were off ice but doesnt fill a hole. KD is not daring with adding g damaged goodsunless its damaged bodies.

While i'd like the Leafs to take a chance on him, no way he'd consider signing and be under a microscope here 24/7.

what even is this?
The Leafs do not want aggression or aggressive players. They want to look tougher but do not coach tougher. Kane would be nothing on a team that discourages tough and he is so untrustworthy his relationships in the room would be terrible. His effectiveness would be limited. Why take the flippin chance.
Understand Obie Wan.

Why do you say he wants to be out west because of his daughter? He has full custody of his daughter. She will go anywhere he goes. The kid is'nt even old enough for school yet. It's not like he'd be pulling her away from friends.

I'm sure he has full custody but someone from his family has to be watching her or maybe there is a hired nanny. He isn't taking her on the road obviously.

This is so dumb. I don’t even know if you’re being serious or not.

Considering he has custody and she’s still not old enough for school or anything really aside being along for the ride what does being within a two hour flight of Vancouver matter? Seattle Denver LA Vegas Anaheim are all in the same range of flight time as well for him. this fit is purely about riding the mcdavid wave to a new deal.

The babysitter thing was proven 2 be false. In Calgary Risebrough was trying to trade him and he found out about it and was pissed so he walked. And his trade out of TO was a mutual decision. To summarize...Gilmour and Kane r NOTHING alike. Killer was the heart and soul of this team in his entire time here. Kane, on the other hand, has proven he's in it for no one but Kane.

I would be worried that there are other stories out there about him.
Gambling issues and the Sharks trying to dump his contract.
He will suck all the air out of the room.

Evander Kane Net Worth: How Rich is the Ice Hockey Player Actually?

How he flies might be dependent on what happens with his contract(s).

Anyone know if his bankruptcy is cleared up, or are his future earning his alone?

If he wins his case against the Sharks ... but that seems unlikely ... he could have money owed from the Sharks and whatever he signs for.

What are the odds he can change?
