Getting rid of Dubas, running the core 4 back, and keeping Keefe is basically my worst nightmare.
This is actually what confuses me about this whole situation. If the media reports are to be believed, it sounds as though Shanahan wanted to keep Dubas, Keefe, and the "Core 4", so what was supposed to change ?

It seems as though the only reason Shanahan brought in Treliving was because he was protecting his job from Dubas, but if Treliving is the only change, and the Core 4 and Keefe remain... What will actually be different on the ice ?

At some point the Board needs to hold Shanahan accountable.

Keefe should have realized that he was in a lose-lose situation after he walked back his comments when Mitch and the others were hurt.

The players don't fully respect him. He's like that parent kids walk all over because the adult has never truly been in control.

If they're bringing him back they value saving severance money over winning, so no one should waste their time.
It has nothing to do with $$$ at MLSE .. team makes HUGE bank doing nothing every year except collect June pre payments for everything .. July to June operating season they can't even come close to spending it all .. and because it is all non cash now there is no more cheating like in Ballard's day .. da bank balance grows significantly every year .. even after dividends .. this is one of da biggest CASH COWS in Canada my friends .. da biggest problem is da CBA for our Leafs .. we are constrained by it .. but this is Bettman's thing to keep ALL teams at same level so it comes down to RAW luck most years

Yup keep rolling it back. I'm sure things will work out this time.

Don't blame Bettman for our mismanagement.

Bettman is scum, and he loves when Canadian teams suffer, but he's not responsible for the Leafs being run like a soulless, soft, incompetent money-making corporate waste of imagination.

That is my entire point .. my dog Snoopy could run our Leafs and it would rain in around $450 to 500M every year by end of June like clockwork between HRR and sponsor revenues (about same As HRR) .. Leafs pay out around $100-125M per in players compensation .. another 125M in operating costs (which rest of nhl are always pissed about) .. 100M in dividends to Larry/Bell/Rogers unless it got changed .. so 100M minimum added to bank every year .. MGMT literally can't SPEND it all .. and fans eat it all up .. some folks resell their tickets and bank too .. sponsors all making a killing off fans each and every year .. players know da thing oozes cash so they take advantage big time .. players could care less about CAP .. they know there is a BILLION+ in bank every day .. we are unlike ANY other NHL team except rangers and to a much lighter extent Habs .. half of league struggles on payroll every year .. Shanny can't BS da players .. he is making $5M uS per too .. MY POINT YOU DON'T NEED ANY COMPETENCY TO RUN LEAFS .. guys like Ballard ran team my friend .. ANYONE or ANYONE's DOG COULD DO IT .. take any old C/D student and they would ACE da test .. and da $$$ machine shows no sign of slowing down .. as another poster said likely da issue is ownership figuring out who as a hockey guy can work NHL CBA and draft right guys ,, likely not Larry/bell and certainly not Ed rogers omg

Well interesting, Patrick Roy just stepped down as the GM and Head coach of the Quebec Ramparts. Why? Maybe he was offered and accepted a head coaching job.

Some argue that NHL coaches all know systems, X's and O's, how to motivate players, etc. If all things being equal, coaching knowledge being widely known, etc. wouldn't a coaching change be done later and not sooner? Some organizations change coaches mid-season, so it doesn't need to happen several months before training camp. I think the fact that there's no news means it could still go either way. In my opinion they'll be looking for a coach in August. First the draft, the UFA's, and then the coach.

Usually yes but I don't know how anyone can look at the way he coached in the playoffs and think - yes let's bring him back. But maybe other coaching options come up. Had a chance last year to upgrade but Dubas wouldn't even consider
