Keefe was given more than he needed
Dubas gave him 20+ different types of players last 3 years + Core

Vessey, Joe Thornton, Spezza, Barabonov, Petan, Malgin, RItchie, Rittich, Campbell, Murray, Samsonov, Gustaffson, Schenn, Acciari, Kase, Simmonds, Blackwell

Not even taking Mikayev and Hyman, that's 2 20 goal scorers

All kinds of players, bringing all kinds of tool set. Dude still couldn't do jack.

If the coach and core 4 stay…then what the hell….it’s becoming clearer shanahan should be fired. He was prepared to offer dubas a 5 year extension!?! Not only an extension but 5 YEARS!!

Meh, don't put too much in to the insiders talking points. They're always qualified. Remember, the second part of that talking point is "ultimately it is the new gm's decision." Let's hope, I want a new coach.

It's becoming readily apparent that BT is a methodical type of manager who gets to know everyone and everything in an organization before he takes any major action. He's great for a risk adverse corporation and as a general rule I believe this is how a team's GM should be. However that's not really the situation here at this time. MLSE has some quick decisions to make whether they want to or not.

You've established this based on his record as the Leafs Gm so far?

I'm just bugging, come on, lets see what he does. There's a ton to do and he's going to do it one way or the other, lets see.

Just to say that there is obviously a ton to do, one way or the other it's going to happen, and we can't judge just yet. Maybe there's a ton of change, maybe he goes slow and steady as you suggest his record suggest, just lets see.

I'll even say sorry, smart ass reply wasn't warranted. Just so much negativity here, mostly I try to stay above it, but wasn't a fair comment to your post. You're right, this teams situation isn't for the slow cooker. There's perfectly reasonable steps forward and I don't see it a dire, but a ton to do.

If Treliving does want Sheldon Keefe to return as head coach of the Leafs, expect a contract extension to come with the announcement to avoid another Kyle Dubas situation. Letting the final year of a contract play out is a difficult task for any coach to command respect from his players who know about his lame duck contract status ...
 
Keefer got dealt a puck possession skilled team by Dubie who brought Keefer in .. he did what he could with an ill equipped playoff roster .. he had no choice but try to win against bigger faster teams with puck possession .. and bottom line as most of us knew on here it never works in playoff hockey (2 different games required between regular season and playoffs) .. now hopefully Tree will bring us a faster team with speed and a bigger D who can protect and clear our net and control da wall .. but top priority will be to resign Matty .. step 1 is critical .. move 1 of Mitch/Willy .. and then resign ROR and Schenner .. and then fill in with bigger faster men with a WILL to fight .. I don't think it is impossible to retool this team .. of course it would be easier with JT not crushing us with 11m AAV
