Not sure. Why waste another year potentially? So they wait till the Leafs lose in 1st or 2nd round in 2024 and then fire him? What a waste of time. Why not just go for it now? Hire an actual competent coach.
Most competent coaches have been hired already.

I am just sick of this crap. Always reactionary. Why not just go for it? Why are they waiting till something bad happens so then BT can use that coach bullet? Same core, + same coach will most likely yield same result. Thanks for wasting all of our time. Shanny is a mook.

Maybe everything depends on AM34 / MM16 extension. If there is no extension, it should be a rebuilding team soon. Keeping Keefe is not a bad idea for the lean years.

Out of Dubas, Shanny and Keefe

Dubas was the only one passable and with some promising moves

Shanny is a clown and does nothing but take credit

Keefe is not ready to coach this team in the playoffs. We cant win with him
Keeping our coach, means the failure this year was all on Dubas. Being happy with Keefe means you think that he got all he could out of this roster. That he was the best we could get for motivation, strategy and gamenship. Best roster in 20 years, and he admits he didn't have them ready for the second round. All this means that we are giving the president one more free year. that the new GM gets one year then he will have to fire coach..

I suppose an argument for keeping Sheldon Keefe is maintaining some form of continuity, particularly if the players with contract negotiations on the horizon prefer Keefe as their coach or do not want the uncertainty of who they will be taking marching orders from to start next season. It's also possible there are no attractive alternatives on the market.

But it would be bizarre, to me, when you look at last year's performance. Keefe's tinkering with the lines and inability to rouse this team in the playoffs to meet the moment, versus the general manager we just sent out the door who, while you may not like his total body of work, made a number of objectively reasonable deadline additions this year to give this team a chance. If there's a cog in that formula I'm looking to swap out, it's probably the head coach.

Keefe time to go back home.

They seemed to have tuned him out anyway. Another reason for core changes - everything else has been tried

If this was last year we would have been able to scoop up Cassidy. But alas.
Things happen in the summer. Things happen in the season where coaching is concerned. I don’t see it as the highest Pripyat the moment. Certainly getting Matthews locked up and just what kind of team Treliving starts to build around him is the priority.

No one could coach that mess of a playoff roster .. not enough speed up front .. not enough D on back end to keep opponents from taking our net .. not enough overall fight on man and on puck from entire roster

Keefer did what he could with a poorly designed playoff rostered club .. bottom line this mess needs to get cleaned up .. not sure this is Trevling's thing but he is in job now

Bottom line we need to take a step back in regular season and focus on building a playoff successful team .. some very tough calls to be made here .. it starts with TRADE of Mitch to bring in much needed pieces .. and free up some CAP space to add what we need in opening paragraph

Coach has a big say I'm how team is going to play

Yeah I agree. Rome wasn’t built in a day so if we have Keefe in place for a while it won’t make too much of a bother. Matthews is 1st, 2nd and 3rd on the priority list.

We always do what's right, when we have tried everything else

So if they keep Keefe, and considering Shanny didn't initially dind't want to fire Kyle, does that mean we were going into next season with same staff?

Despite of not achieving much?

well Shanny

Keefe played the hand Dubas dealt him & parroted the narrative Dubas wanted. I'm fine with giving him another year to see exactly what type of coach he really is.
