IMO that is too risky for us.

I know Mrzaek had flashes of brilliance in the past, but he also due for over 4 million in QO next season. And this could really screw up our goaltending situation.

By the way, any thoughts on Dumba and Strome ? I feel like Dumba is an impact player who just need a change of scenery to elevate his game. The same goes for Strome.

How could it really screw up our goaltending situation? And Jones is going to come in at $5.5-6M, $4M is great compared to that.

It's just a qualifying offer. And he doesn't rebound, we are stuck with him.

I just think we shouldn't touch what's not broke.

"Do no harm".

Funny niemi is a career .913sv%.

Niemi has played almost three times as many games. Mrazek's career numbers are heavily impacted by this past season, which was admittedly horrible. But prior to that he had tremendous numbers at every level. Seems extremely likely he'll bounce back. He's still only 25 which is pretty young for a goalie.

Also Niemi was a good regular season goalie for us. Easily as good in the regular season if not better than Jones. It's the playoffs where he was a complete turd.

These next days will be awesome. I feel like this is where DW shines. He is a smart and shrewd dealer, and will somehow snake a good trade out of this draft week. I have a feeling we will end up with a guy another team left unprotected, like Marchessault or one of Dumba/Scandella

For all the wishing about Strome (and others, I am sure), I wouldn't get hopes up. If the Isles really are paying Vegas a 1st to not take a forward (obviously including Strome), it makes him being exposed totally irrelevant. They're keeping him. I would be highly surprised if other teams who look to have highly appealing players exposed didn't make similar types of deals. Hell, I could see DW offering Vegas a pick (we have a new 4th!) to get them to agree to take Boedker (or whoever our whipping boy bad contract is that day) off of our hands rather than taking Schlemko, etc.

Ive always been a Chiasson fan, i see Calgary didnt protect him. I wonder what the chances are that maybe DW inquires about his availability.

Gackle might be even stupider as far as people inexplicably paid to cover the Sharks. Was listening to his podcast and he said that a proposal of Hertl and Mueller for Matt Duchene would be laughable from Colorado's perspective and the Avs would never entertain it. He then went on to say a more realistic ask from Colorado for Duchene would be Tierney, Sorensen and Heed. In what universe are all three of those players combined worth more than Hertl alone, let alone Hertl and a guy who was worth a 2nd and 4th on the market?

Wild fan coming in peace... is the following deal a "no", a "no thank you" or a "hell no" from San Jose's point-of-view:

Scandella + Pominville + pick (our first this year is in the 3rd round)

for

Martin + #19 + Hansen

We clear a bit of cap, Martin serves as a buffer for Olofsson/Reilly being handed top 4 minutes on our club.

On your side, giving up the 1st rounder is probably pretty tough to do, but you guys reset the age clock on one of your top 4 LD going from 36 year old Martin to 27 year old Scandella (3 more years at $4m per) and upgrade from Hansen to Pominville (yes, I believe it's an upgrade).

Thoughts?

Pominville's contract makes this a no for me.

At what cap hit would your 'no' become a 'yes'?

Have no interest regardless of cap hit. Scandella has little to no offensive ability, Pommenville is old and not the player he once was and I wouldn't give up either of those players for a 3rd round pick. Honestly wouldn't even trade #19 for those guys. The trade really makes no sense for Sharks fans. If I'm trading with Minnesota only guys I'm look for are Dumba, Coyle, Nino, Zucker or Spurgeon. Everyone else would either cost too much or has a contract I don't want.
