Such a great balanced lineup, I might switch Chucky and Cat but that's it
only reason I wouldn't is because then you'd have 2 "shooters" on one line with DBC-Norris. and I have found that G has a knack for finding DBC in his wheelhouse. I'd also be down for:

Tkachuk - Norris - Joseph (worked last year after TDL)
Motte - Stutzle - Batherson
DeBrincat - Pinto - Giroux

perhaps working as a "third" line and without defensive liability Batherson dragging them down Pinto and DBC could work together? Personally, I'm more of a fan of pairs instead of lines as it is... I've noticed that a lot of contending teams have 2 "studs" and a filler who doesn't "belong" but does the job well throughout the lineup.

Bunting - Matthews - Marner

Hyman - McDavid - Draisaitl

Lehkonen - MacKinnon - Raantanen

Paul - Point - Killorn

Hagel - Stamkos - Kucherov

Zacha - Krejci - Pastrnak

No he hasn't but I think playing Pinto with Giroux should be a priority... Stutzle has his game figured out it seems, just needs to get better at draws, which can be worked on in practice, I understand that Norris can't take or isn't taking faceoffs right away, but as soon as he is ready again Giroux should be stapled to Pinto.

Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
DeBrincat - Stutzle - Joseph
Motte(Greig) - Pinto - Giroux
Kelly - Kastelic - Watson
Gambrell.
We need to upgrade on Motte on the 3rd line. In addition we need some scoring from the third and 4th lines. Also a "1RD.

How do we feel about his first official rookie season? IMHO I feel he's slightly underperformed, but overall there's a lot of positives and potential. Nonetheless, him being thrusted into a 2C role, or him playing with eh team mates on the third line haven't been the best for him. If Norris is healthy next year, we really shouold try him with Greig and Joseph.

Likely gets to 20 goals, so I think despite being thrust into a bigger role, I think he’s managed it very well. Losing whole year last season was the worst, but I expect he’ll settle in nicely next season with Norris back.

His point production has been on par for what I expected. He'[s actually exceeded his goal production. I thought he'd be more of a 12/20 guy in 82 games, so far he's doing much better than that. However, his defensive play has been underwhelming compared to when he was drafted ngl. But you can see his signs of potential defensively.

He has been a passive passenger too many nights in the 2nd half of the season.

He is becoming a perimeter player who has zero dynamic traights to his game, and that is very disappointing.

He seems to play at 1 speed now and never challenges the middle of the ice or drive the net.

I want to see some fire and aggression in his game plus a lot more pace. Not sure why his skating has stalled out after shoulder injuries.

First full pro season hes played 69 games (nice). The most he has ever played previously is 33. Being elevated into a role he wasn't ready for. Its mentally and physically very challenging. He is still 2nd in rookie goals and the only rookie center over 50% in the dot. He's going to be much better next year. Very exciting young player to have. Agreed he hasn't been as good lately but it shouldn't be surprising given the circumstances. If he gets 20 that's great! This is Bathersons first 20 goal NHL season in comparison.

Man, my expectations were sky high for him when this summer I thought he'd be insulated on the third line flanked by Formenton and Joseph, that would have been an absolute killer third line imo.

He's looked a bit overwhelmed at times, but I still think he's going to be a really great player for us.

I've been really disappointed with Pinto this season. I get that he was put in a tough spot but man has he fallen off a cliff in many ways.

Gone is the relentless forecheck and in your face pressure. He really just floats until someone gives him a nice pass.

I hope he focuses on speed and conditioning this summer. We need him to be a great 3c.

Rookie season pushing 20 goals around 50% in the faceoff circle , aside from better play making not much we can ask for from him

He will be better next year

Saw a stat last night that majority of his goals have come when Norris was in the lineup which allows him to be slotted properly. Next year should be a big year for him

In the grand scheme of things, this baptism by fire will bode well for him. He looks tired, and correctly as you stated he has never played this much hockey, and he will be much better prepared for the rigours of the season next year.

In the grand scheme, people also have to remember he is a rookie, and let’s pump the brakes on the criticism. To have a sniff at 20 goals, and people are still picking a rookie’s game apart. This is the NHL, the best league in the world and he is scoring as a rookie lol

All very good points and thanks for adding the context. Wasn't trying to slam him but see it came off that way a bit.

I like the player a lot I have just found he has switched into neutral. He can play faster and I hope we see that spark before the season is over.

Probably for the best he didn’t have a super breakout season as a rookie the cap situation is looking tight already if we can save 1-2 million on his AAV now that’s huge

I don't get the Pinto criticism. Guy is a kid being thrusted into a top 6 role.

Hes playing above his normal role. He will be an excellent 3rd liner that can fill in part time in the top 6 if needed.
He is a pro hockey player and the, "criticism" is more commentary about the pace he is bringing.

I think Pinto has been great this yr, sure he has had some off games they all do over an 82 game schedule & he is in his first full season & we should expect that at times he will be overwhelmed. But as @bert said he is 2nd in rookie scoring & over 50% in the dot which is pretty damn good. While he is playing above where he was intended to play I think given the circumstances he has held his own & in some games his line was the best line. I think he is going to be even better next yr & if the team as a whole can stay healthy should be a playoff team & Pnto should be a big part of that. With Norris coming back it will be interesting to see what kind of 3rd line they produce for next season.

And people have unfairly blamed him for DeBrincat’s struggles . Cat is missing from whomever feeds him

Yea, I don't see that at all, DBC is getting tons of chances every game & whether he is holding the stick too tight or just bad luck or whatever it is it's not anyone elses fault. These things happen with goal scorers sometimes they run hot & cold, sometimes they have a great season & then a crappy one, all kinds of reasons.

I think once this contract thing is over he will be a good player for this team & will be needed in the top 9 once Giroux hangs them up. We have 5 guys who put up more than 50 pts this season which is very rare & Norris is another guy who has 50 pt potential. Now if we can get Chabot back on track & Chychrun to start lighting it up & Sanderson to continue to improve they could turn into a very high scoring team, their PP is already one of the best in the league. This team has a ton of potential with a few more good players coming.

Has looked overwhelmed when playing 2nd line, but much better when slotted on the 3rd line.

Just treading water when taking on tough matchups, but can push the pace when playing on the 3rd line.

Looks a bit worn out at this point of the season. Excited to see him come back refreshed for next season.

This is his first full nhl season. I think he's played fine given what's been asked of him so far.

Next year I think we'll see a better version of him when he's slotted correctly
I know it's is his 1st NHL season but it is his year playing in the NHL if we count his games after his college career.

You are welcome to think he is playing fine. I am also entitle to think, even with all the challenges for him, that he is capable of playing with more pace and energy. He can be slotted anywhere and if he doesn't find his old pace, he will just be an OK player.

Disappointing season? Holy smokes you guys are tough critics. He's done very well.
If he stagnates or regresses next season - then, maybe, you can be "disappointed"
Where is the quote of people saying he has been disappointing? I said it has been disappointing to see him not show off his dynamic traits.

He has had a fine season but I believe he could still play better if he added a step and got more involved.
