I hope y'all put money on Pinto to win the Calder before the season started. The hype is real!

I think the NHL season is starting to exhaust him especially after playing no hockey last year, this is a big change of pace for him.

I don't think so. 5v5 he is still the player he was at the start of the season. Biggest difference is that his PP TOI has dropped because there is now a preferred unit. Him and Debrincat haven't worked together. Approaching 90 minutes without a GF. Tonight they have generated more though. With the Norris injury he has been given more responsibility than he is ready for.

Pinto is halfway to 20g.

Hope he hits that mark. He's got loads of development left, but even though he hasn't been scoring as much, his face off percentages are great and he's not a defensive liability. More games and more ice time will keep him going the right direction

Yes as much as it sucks to not have Norris and Stu I think it can be a positive for Pinto to be thrust in to this role.

He gains more experience with/against top players and by the time he gets to move down to 3rd line role again he should feel like he has more time and space.

It's about time Cat and Batherson elevate their games to bring him along and help him get on the scoresheet more regularly.

Pinto seems to be a completely different player than he was after the first 15 games. I know he is a rookie but there has been a big step backwards. He is playing tentative, cautious, passive.
Reasons?
Family issues?
Injury or the fear of injuring his shoulder?
Linemates lack of chemistry? Playing on the second line instead of the the third line?
Maybe he just got hot for those first games of the season and isn't working as hard or he thought it was going to be as easy as it was those first few games?
He has had a few decent games but he really seems to be struggling. I know he is a rookie but something is off.....
He looks like a deer in the headlights and he did not play that way at the start of the season.

The hype has definitely died down on the kid. Maybe it was jumping to 2C too early but yeah he seems to have taken a step backwards. We can probably throw away the 1C potential at this point lol.

Team is fickle but so is this fan base this thread shouldn’t be bumped right now.

Guy is playing in the NHL after missing a full year last year and has looked good at points . I am not worried at all.

Colin White ? Curtis Lazar ? Those guys never hyped me up. Pinto is different.

Be happy that he hasn’t snapped yet and only played 1 year of 3 year ELC should help big time with his contract and giving us long term centre stability

He needs the off season to get ready for his role properly. In the meantime this season is good experience. He’ll know what he needs to do to prepare. He’ll be very good for us next year.

Pinto is definitely looking like what he is - a rookie who missed an entire season due to injury, and has only played 59 NHL games so far. He is also being slotted too far up the lineup due to our injury situation (Norris), bad luck (the Formenton situation) and poor asset management (trading Connor Brown for a second rounder.) Having Pinto on the third line playing sheltered minutes would have been ideal. Instead, he's playing against other teams' top lines every night. Long term, I think he'll be fine - I'm not getting any Colin White or Curtis Lazar vibes here at all.

Yep one more year left on ELC after this year, doesn’t he?

This is just how it's been the last number of years for Ottawa.

Last year was a big year for Pinto. Boom. Injured. Misses pretty much the entire year.

This year, he's slotted in as a 3C. Boom. Game 6 and he's playing 2C. He's not ready for it.

I think the speed, physicality and intensity is ramping up and he's not ready for it. And why would he be ready for it? He missed an entire year last year. Would he look different/better with a full season under his belt from last year? I think so.

injuries are normal part of the game

GM did not have the correct depth in place. Just like i said last year. People were saying missing Pinto was big last year yet how can that be when he is a rookie ?

people keep overrating guys who barely have nhl experience and it seems like Dorion does that same.

Looks like they were banking on him playing well and that would be to answer to our depth. The issue is you need more good vet depth to help insulate young guys. Trading Brown is was moronic
