Little early for that decision

Brady- Timmy- Drake
Cat- Pinto- Giroux
Motte - Jesus - Joseph
Kelly- Gambrell- Watsonfek

For some reason Forsberg getting the start.... again.

Not a surprise. I don't think Brassard has been bad (caveat - I missed the 1st period against Florida, so I saw that game through rose-coloured glasses), but he is definitely slower-moving and slower to process than Cat and Giroux. There was one turnover in particular, didn't lead to anything, but it was clear that Brass just wasn't anticipating the pass from Giroux.

Pinto's give and go with (I think?) Giroux in the slot is a good sign of how he can help that line up the pace of attack. Pints has a lot of similarities with Norris, obviously they shoot different ways, but I think he can help that line play the style they need to thrive. Also brings some size to that line.

ok so I was scared to look at that but since DJ Smith has been named coach in 2019-20 :

HOME : 51-46-14, 0.523 P% which is 23rd in the NHL during that period of time (2.99 GA/GP, 20th OA; 2.56 GF/GP, 28th OA)

ROAD : 34-62-10, 0.368 P% which is 30th in the NHL during that period of time (3.64 GA/GP, 2nd worst; 2.95 GF/GP, 21st OA)

It is expected that a team should be better at home, but that discrepancy is way too big. We have been sucking way too much on the road.

Yeah lets not fix the 2nd line in order to keep the 3rd and 4th lines intact...what a big brain move. Pinto has already displayed chemistry with Giroux and Debrincat meanwhile Brassard hasn't played in someone's top 6 in nearly 7 years.
They had won 4 in a row when I posted this. Debrincat just had his two best games as a Senator.

Sweet 'big brain move' on your end. At the time I posted this that line was rolling. The team was rolling. They've since lost 2 in a row. If you're gonna try and look intelligent why not engage in the current conversation.

Lastly the 2nd line has been good. It's the first line that was horrible the last two games. The 2nd line doesn't need fixing anyway.

Could flip Batherson and Giroux at some point. Help Timmy with the right side draws.

No need to throw out insults buddy. The team is 1-2 with Brassard in the lineup coinciding with our worst 2 games of the season. The current conversation is that Brassard sucks, and is being replaced by Pinto on the second line as he should've been a week ago. So far this season the second line has been largely invisible at 5v5 and should improve with Pinto's presence, especially if they can replicate their pre-season chemistry.

You came in with the insult which was based on revisionist history. The current conversation was not that when I made the post you quoted.

That line didnt even play together in the pre season Pinto played with Motte and Joseph the entire time. The 2nd line hasnt even been the issue the last two games either. Its been the first line that has been caved in that has stopped getting the puck in deep etc.

I am fine with changing the lines after two games of not winning. But they were on a 4 game winning streak when you came in firing. Completely different scenarios.

Pinto is leading rookies in goal so far. Not sure if he can keep it up, and he'll stay behind Beniers in points, but him getting a Calder nod would be dope. Can't remember the last time that happened.

Any interest in trading to the Flames for Andersson++ package (Toffoli needs to be included for cap reasons).
I'd absolutely consider trading DeBrincat for Andersson and Toffoli. We'd have to add salary to make it work, but Andersson is a top young RD with some term on his contract of $4.5 million. Toffoli is not nearly as good as DeBrincat, but he's an average 2nd line winger that would work on our roster until his contract is done and we can have our prospects replace them. If Cat doesn't want to stay here for a price that works with our cap structure and Flames are willing to move Andersson, I'd see if the Flames bite on Cat, Zaitsev, and a draft pick. Sutter might get something out of Zaitsev and a pick or two might make it work.

What about a bigger deal like:

Andersson, Vladar (Stability in net), Toffoli, and a 2023 1st rounder for

Debrincat, JBD, Zaitsev, and both 2024 2nd rounders?

Not sure if we need Vladar considering we have Forsberg signed and plan on bringing in Sogaard soon enough. But hey, if the additional 2nd rounders are to get rid of Zaitsev and upgrade with Andersson, I'd do it. All of this of course in an unlikely scenario where DeBrincat just isn't a right fit here (and I think he'll work out scoring wise)

I think we should give Soogaard more time and Vladar provides extra security in net.

Where was I insulting you buddy? Lol I sure came in firing with a comment like this

"Yeah lets not fix the 2nd line in order to keep the 3rd and 4th lines intact...what a big brain move. Pinto has already displayed chemistry with Giroux and Debrincat meanwhile Brassard hasn't played in someone's top 6 in nearly 7 years."
Do you even realize that I was responding to your comment that you were responding to from someone else?

Pinto also had amazing chemistry with Giroux and Cat in the pre season.
I’d prefer everyone gets bumped up a spot. Not sure how a guy that’s been a healthy scratch for the first 4 games suddenly draws into a top 6C role because of injury.

Move Pinto to 2C, Kastelic to 3C and Brass to 4C
In the end, the sens were on a 4 game winning streak while the second line floated. Outside of the PP, Giroux and Cat were practically invisible. As soon as Norris got hurt, Brassard got bumped up to 2C and the team play suffered even more. It was obvious without Norris taking harder defensive matchups including 1PK duties the team suffered. I went to the game against Minnesota and the eye test tells me that second line was garbage with Brassard, let alone the rest of the team. More people agreed with the original sentiment that DJB shared saying that everyone should get bumped up a spot while Brassard takes 4C compared to what you were saying which is keep the lines the same because we don't want to disrupt chemistry. Anyways, this is my last post regarding this subject, have a nice day and go sens go.

It's just a top 9 winger for a single season. This trade obviously happens in off season.
Then I`m extra not interested in trading for a 31 year old Toffoli for DeBrincat.

Would much rather get a young player 1v1 in return.

Plus I don`t think Calgary would gut their depth for 1 player, just doesn`t seem like their style with already so much money tied up in Kadri, Huberdeau, Lindholm.

NEW YORK - - Ottawa Senators center Shane Pinto, who led all rookies with six goals in eight games (6-1-7) and topped the entire League with a 42.9 shooting percentage (6 G/14 S), has been named the NHL's "Rookie of the Month" for October.
Pinto edged Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Logan Thompson (4-2-0, 1.69 GAA, .943 SV%, 2 SO), Seattle Kraken center Matty Beniers (4-4-8 in 10 GP), Minnesota Wild defenseman Calen Addison (0-7-7 in 9 GP), Columbus Blue Jackets center Kent Johnson (3-3-6 in 9 GP) and Winnipeg Jets center Cole Perfetti (3-3-6 in 9 GP) for the honor.
Pinto scored in five straight games from Oct. 15-24 (5-1-6) to set a franchise rookie record for longest goal streak and become the first rookie from any team with as long of a run since eventual Calder Memorial Trophy winner Kirill Kaprizov from April 17-24, 2021 (6-0-6 in 5 GP w/ MIN). Two of Pinto's five goals during his streak stood as game-winners: Oct. 20 vs. WSH and Oct. 24 vs. DAL.

Pinto scores goal in 5 straight

Overall, Pinto averaged 0.75 goals per game during the month (6 G in 8 GP). Only one rookie since 1993-94 has posted a better such rate in the month of October: Elias Pettersson - another Calder Trophy winner - who averaged 0.88 goals per game in October 2018 (7 G in 8 GP w/ VAN).
The 21-year-old Pinto, who was selected in the second round (32nd overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft, has collected 7-8-15 in 25 career NHL games. He is the first Senators player to earn "Rookie of the Month" honors since teammate Tim Stützle in February 2021.

With the move up to C Cat and Giroux I am not so sure of that.

He has a game in hand right now on Beniers as well so a couple of points tonight puts him in the lead, maybe for good.

This could be a small thing but with Pinto being a righty he may be able to get the puck to DeBrincat a little easier than Norris was able to so we could see a bump for him as well.
