We can't fit him, Zub and DeBrincat if all three get long term deals imo. Pinto getting a bridge deal makes the most sense.
As great as Giroux will be for us, after 3 years his cap hit coming off the books will be good to handle Pinto, Sanderson contracts. We’ll need to bridge until cap rises and Giroux and the current buyouts are done.

I don't want to see it because it would mean a lot of injuries to our other two centres.
TBH, it's not impossible for it to happen without injuries.

DJ could try to create 3 balanced lines. Pinto is already showing some chemistry with Giroux and DeBrincat on the 2PP.

I would not be shocked if we saw something like:

Motte-Norris-Batherson
DeBrincat-Pinto-Giroux
Tkachuk-Stutzle-Joseph

It's possible. A lot relies on PP production.

Some rookie out there will get some prime opportunities without having 6 star forwards ahead of him in the depth chart.

I KIIIIIND of like this idea. I'd tinker with it a little. Might try:

DBC - Norris - Giroux
Motte - Stützle - Batherson
Tkachuk - Pinto - Joseph

I think the team would prefer to have a solid shut down line,

Tkachuk-Stutzle-Giroux
DeBrincat-Norris-Batherson
Formenton-Pinto-Joseph
Kelly-Motte-Kaestlic

But I think the lines we have now will mesh and absolutely thrive.

I agree that the lines that are obvious will probably be just fine. The third line looks great so far. Motte has really impressed me so far.

I really like your 2nd and 3rd lines but I feel like Giroux will wok best with a pure finisher, someone who can finish from distance, on his line. To me that means he's with either Norris or DBC, or both.

Just my 2 cents though.

To me, Batherson, Giroux and Stutzle are the natural playmakers on the team so it would make sense to spread them out a bit.

Just as ADB and Norris are the natural shooters.

Tkachuk is sort of a unicorn and Motte and Joseph will be energy guys with some pop.

Agree with most of this. IMO, I'm not sure Stutzle and Giroux on the same line is going to work very well. Stutzle like to hold onto the puck to create plays, whereas Giroux is more of a traditional playmaker.

That's why I liked my initial proposal of:

Motte-Norris-Batherson
Norris and Batherson have chemistry going back to the AHL days, and they have a clear shooter-playmaker dynamic. Tkachuk is also good at finishing plays, but I feel like Motte's extra speed and "oomph" could be similarly effective to get the most out of those two.

DeBrincat-Pinto-Giroux
We're already seeing sparks fly between Giroux and DeBrincat. Throw Pinto in the mix, who is great two-way and can also rip it. I think there's a chance this could become our defacto 1st line. These three been phenomenal together on the PP so far in pre-season.

Tkachuk-Stutzle-Joseph
The combination of Tkachuk's physicality and Joseph's speed should give Stutzle tons of space to do his thing. I also feel like Tkachuk-Stutzle alone have the potential to be a really good duo. I'm surprised we haven't seen much of this yet.

I'm sure we'll see all kinds of looks, but I think it's a lot of pressure on Pinto though who is still technically a rookie.

I like these lines. There's size, scoring, playmaking on each of them!

Anyone holding on to this image of Shane Pinto as a shutdown guy is dead wrong.

Pinto is going to be an offensive machine.

His progress right now reminds me of Batherson.

Everyone pegged Bath as a pass first guy for a while, and then he went on that scoring streak and started scoring those big goal-scorer goals we all said a big collective "oh shit!".

Then deep into the season before he got injured his p/gp were better than Panarin's and right there with Matthews. And we all said a big collective "well f*** me!"

Pinto is doing that this season. He looks like he's just going to step on the ice and push a point per game.

He's not a 2-way guy.
He's not a pass first guy or a shoot-first guy.
He's not your buddy, guy.
He's whichever guy he wants to be, whenever he wants to be him.
He's an everything guy.
He's THE guy.

Not here. I predicted Batherson to be elite 40 goal top liner. Boy I was ripped for that one (though l think it might not happen as quickly now due to just as big scoring threats).

Drake batherson has elite 40 goal top line potential.

Is it just me or might he have a better shot than Norris?
It remains to be seen if Pinto has the consistency of Norris. Norris can just consistently take that same shot over and over again.

Pinto on the other hand seems to have a bit more range and versatility in terms of where he can take that one timer from. He seems to be able to hit it on the spin in the high slot, similar to Bergeron and Point. For all Norris's ability, he doesn't take that kind of shot very often.

This may mean Pinto can create more unique scoring opportunities. But at end of day, if Norris can just always capitalize on the perfect pass in the perfect spot, then he can stay ahead. This is similar to ovechkin. Everyone knows what he's going to do, but it still happens.
