I don't think you can really look at it that way. He is a top 5 forward no matter what position his versatility puts him in. When you have this many good players they won't have defined roles like that. They will move up and down the lineup. There is almost always injuries. I think they Bridge him until Girouxs contract is up and give him his money in 3 seasons.
Anthony Cirelli makes a little over 6 playing the same role on an elite Tampa team. Why would Pinto be making more than that?

I think Pinto has a higher end offensive upside due to his shot. But I mean who knows what he demands in a contract or how much he produces. But if I'm Pinto I'm not signing a long term deal after 1 full season.

He’s amazing. Can step in if stutzle/Norris go down and we won’t miss a beat.

also the market when Cirelli signed isnt going to be the same as when Pinto signs. Especially if the cap rises like its expected to. Def smart for him to bridge, but obviously id be over the moon if he locked in long term instead.

What a beauty. Having another high end centre is never a bad thing. Hoping him playing on the 3rd line for most of the season can work to our advantage in contract talks. Would love to get him on a 5-6 year deal around Batherson $$ if he has a good year.

Security + playing on an elite, elite team. He can sign a Batherson-like contract and even if he gets shorted, he can sign a prime time deal at 26-27, when he would truly be hitting his prime. 5x5.

Could see Pinto following an accelerated C. Brown developmental curve where he does what Brown did with us, but as a 22 year old rather than 25 y.o.

Score 40 points this year, and then 50-60 point pace his true sophomore year next season. Then want an expanded roll to try and maximize his income when he's up for his next big contract.

If we can get him to sign anything more than 3-4 years, we'll be laughing like we did with Batherson. If we sign him to less than 2 years, it's going to get ugly real soon in terms of cap casualties.

Signing Pinto at anything more than a 2 year short bridge at low dollars means bye bye Debrincat.

We have to shoe horn Zub, Pinto and Debrincat in somehow.
Agree, cap doesn’t work for us next year if we he gets a number from a long term deal, basically has to be short term, or let DeBrincat go.

Yes he is
Oh I thought he wasn't:

Eligibility: To be eligible for the Calder Memorial Trophy, a player cannot have played more than 25 games in any single preceding season nor in six or more games in each of any two preceding seasons in any major professional league. Beginning in 1990-91, a player must not have attained his 26th birthday by Sept. 15 of the season in which he is eligible.

Pinto played in 12 games two years ago - so doesn't seem to qualify?

No
Qualifications
Less than 25 games , check
Less than 6 games played in each of the previous 2 seasons, fail
Someone should call Vegas then because he is listed on every site with Calder odds...

The wording is kinda weird right?

If it means <6 games last year AND <6 games the year before - he definitely qualifies then
If it means <6 games last year OR <6 games the year before - he doesn't.

I am inclined to believe the former. So many sports books getting it wrong would be a bit weird.

The key word is each. He is eligible.

It means at least 6 games in multiple seasons. For clarification, Mark Stone had seasons of 4 GP and 19 GP before the 2014/2015 season where he finished 2nd in Calder voting.

Pinto aint winning the Calder unless Norris or Stutzle are out longterm. Which hopefully they aren't, it is in our best interest they stay healthy as well for Pinto to get a cheap bridge.

He played 5 games last season.
Yes you didn’t read what I posted, yes and 12 year before so ineligible

Ok I think I’m wrong, need to reword that 6 game part.
He is +5000 for Calder, so I guess he’s in.

Oh sorry. I thought you were trying to say he played 6 or more in consecutive seasons. Him playing more than 6 in one season, doesn't make him ineligible. Mark Stone played 19 games in 13/14 and was runner up for the Calder in 14/15.
