No thanks. The Sens will gladly welcome back their young 20 goal centre for a pro-rated $875,000 (his QO) for the last 41 games of the season, and possibly at a relatively low price for next season too as he has no leverage.I would give up a 6th for him
It really isn't. This is the internet. People love to virtue-signal, clutch their pearls, concern troll, and feign outrage over literally anything that they can. It's like a twisted, degenerate, dopamine dump for them I guess? I dunno. The internet would be great if way less people used it, and society would be great if way less people used the internet. Its amazing how many people are coming into the thread absolutely outraged at the suspension despite not even having seen the sparse details available.
I was upset at 1st, the way the details were coming out it looked like he got 41 games for making a bet on a non NHL team and IMO thats not fair but with what Servalli said I am thinking 41 is light. So weird how hurt and protective people seem to be over a grown man breaking a rule and getting punished for it. Does your employer not have rules for your conduct?
he was spilling the beans

At 875K, he will easily fit under the cap as another low-paid player will be sent to the AHL. 21 man roster will be intact.
Yea. As if most of the league isnt betting through a friend.Shane Pinto has the peoples support!!! Gamble on young man do your thing!!!!
Also if that would be treated the sameIMO to see the 41 games, this HAS to be 5 or more times. There is no way this is a case of Pinto talking too much and a buddy making bets. At least thats what I am getting out of the severity of the suspension.
If its the worst case of him regularly giving inside info and getting a cut of the winnings then I feel 41 is light.Again, Shane Pinto feels like this is a fair punishment, but people on a message board with absolutely no details of the situation are outraged.
Wonder who's right?
He can't play until Janurary. That's not at all convenient for them. Having someone go in LTIR and them concluding will be out all season would be something convenientThe timing of this is incredibly shady. The only unsigned RFA gets hit with a gambling suspension while his team is in cap hell unable to sign him? Now he gets suspended and they can get him for his QO?
One helluva lucky coincidence for the Sens
Yeah that must be it.The timing of this is incredibly shady. The only unsigned RFA gets hit with a gambling suspension while his team is in cap hell unable to sign him? Now he gets suspended and they can get him for his QO?

Or this settlement has been in negotiation for a while, and the Sens knowing this was coming is the reason they didn’t pay to give away roster players to make room for someone they knew wouldn’t be eligible to play anyway. The timing of this is incredibly shady. The only unsigned RFA gets hit with a gambling suspension while his team is in cap hell unable to sign him? Now he gets suspended and they can get him for his QO?
One helluva lucky coincidence for the Sens
From the statements, this was a negotiated outcome from all sides. Knowing the NHL will want to protect the gambling revenue, I am thinking this is a worst case situation of a pattern of leaks and pay outs. Also if that would be treated the same
- talking out of turn
- active information share for 3rd party
- active information share for 3rd party with financial benefit
All moot because i would be skeptical if they even have a detailed policy on punishment models for this type of thing
Yeaaaa gambling is a weird deal though. I worked at a bar that also functioned as an off track betting site, and we were not allowed to gamble, at least while working anyways. There thought was somehow we could have inside information on the horses and such, which is insane, as none of us were around any of that.Let the boys gamble
Yea pretty much. The sports leagues go to war to protect their precious sports books, who would no doubt be upset over something like this. They don't like getting a taste of their own medicineIf its the worst case of him regularly giving inside info and getting a cut of the winnings then I feel 41 is light.
