Gambling? Who cares? Unless he betting on his own team. For f*** sakes the NHL promote gambling all over the place. We live in an ass backwards world it’s pathetic.
As long as he's not betting on hockey, there aren't any questions about the integrity of the game. It's not about what's "fair" it's about making sure the millions (billion?) of dollars that the league is making from gambling is not compromised in any way. It's kind of ridiculous but makes sense when you realize this whole league is just a big attention suck for the purpose of showing you ads / getting you to gamble / buy tickets and merchandise.
That's what the Player Assistance Program is for, not suspensions.that is 1 aspect that could be at play, maybe Pinto is in the midst of a gambling addiction. He violated a rule and they saw an opportunity to get the kid the help he needs.
Huh? Do you know something literally no one else in the league knows?
Must have bet last season. Friedman reported the investigation started in the summer.Kinda weird, he isn’t signed anywhere who cares if he bets? He can’t influence the game at all.
NHL PR really is something. He’s unsigned. Give him the suspension but don’t draw negative attention. Don’t make it public. Have him only sign after game 41.
If he's betting on Toronto Raptors games, and his buddy on the Raptors is betting on Ottawa Senators games, I'd sure have questions about the integrity of the gameAs long as he's not betting on hockey, there aren't any questions about the integrity of the game.
I don't find gambling fun, on a personal level. It's more anxiety provoking than fun for me.
It's like taking a $100 bill and lighting it on fire, claiming "entertainment"
Do we know when the bet was placed though? Seems like it was probably last year.Pinto doesn't even have an NHL contract though - so he's not a member of the team.
Also, how do you retroactively apply the suspension? That's basically a fake suspension when you start counting games the player was never eligible to play.
This is like the weirdest story. "He's supended for gambling" Gambling on what? "It's a retroactive suspension" But he doesn't even have a contract so what are you suspending?

41 games is such an absurd number for this
players who intentionally injure other players on the ice usually get less than that
I think he'll play down the stretch for Ottawa. There won't be anything holding him back.He won't be immediately re-instated after 41 games. Also, he still doesn't have a contract.
