So basically what Jack Eichel got? Considering Eichel is on a different galaxy as a player than JT Miller, younger, and had 5 years left on his deal...I think you will be surprised at the return

Sure both teams need to accept a deal...But the Rangers are on a hell of a lot better train track than Vancouver is right now. Vancouver is desperate for a change, the Rangers are fine
Since when are we desperate for a change? We’re 8-3-1 under boudreau and fighting to get back into the playoff race. Also, eichel isn’t a comparable because of his neck surgery and the worry over possible complications. A better comparable is Coleman, who had the same term and ended up getting a first. Miller is getting at least twice that if there’s retention.

I think the return will be somewhere inbetween what rangers and Canucks fans think. Devils fan posted an offer and believe it will likely be closer to that.

Kravtsov isn't coming back to NY, so a deal like this makes sense for his value, but where does Nils fit in with us when Schneider is the much better prospect? Our first this year is a late rounder so I'm not broken up including it. Sure, they're definitely prime assets, but Miller makes us a much better team & Vancouver isn't giving him away.

Stats showing JT as a PP specialist...at even strength he is a good player but his stats are padded on the PP. Honestly would save 27 for a longer term asset( at least 4 yrs) than chase the cup with JT. PS Who was my favorite young player and a great bowhunter from Ohio.

lindros was a franchise player on a ELC. His size/skill combo was uncanny. He would probably hold a bunch of NHL records if not for his concussion problem.
Lindros-Miller really isn’t a comparable trade return to expect....

Did I say that it would be? In fact, I specifically said that the situations were different.

I was responding to the question when was the last player traded for four first rounders. I just answered it.

Lindros was thought to be the next great one. Thats going back 30 years wow.

Good memory.

Stone really wasn't a UFA as he signed an extension immediately. They obviously worked it out a head of time so not really a true UFA that you have to compete with other teams to sign. Still nowhere near 4 1sts.

He wasn't signing that extension with Ottawa so they had to sell him as a UFA. Had Ottawa not traded him, he would have tested free agency so they sold him as a UFA. Not a fair comparison.

That’s cool. May as well wait another few years and hope your prospects peak at the perfect time. Then try to go on a run. Or find a slightly lesser player to fill the void?
Or we just go get someone else who is better for that price? The Rangers aren't unloading 3 top prospects for JT Miller, in addition to a 1st round pick. They didn't pay that much for Rick Nash.

JT Miller ain't the missing piece for the Rangers.

With Colorado apparently in the mix, they will drive up the price by offering Newhook. A Vancouver native who I know the old brass was in love with, still a few guys around from the old regime. Newhook or Schneider will have to be involved and I’d be happy with either. Those two are the base of either move regardless of fans approval or not.
If salary needs to come back the value goes up from there. I’d guess a first is added to the trade as it will basically be a late one or almost early second plus a cap player coming back to even out the dollars. If Canucks don’t take cap back and retain 30/50% then I could see a second added to the deal.

This is very realistic.

I think Kravstov/Othmann + Lundqvist + 2022 1st is an agreeable deal for both sides.

Personally i would like Barron + from the Avs.

I would like Barron out of Colorado. Seems like a player that fills a need and has good potential.

Very True, but JT Miller is also an asset to a team, but not someone you build your offense around. Over last season and this one (91 games), Miller is 81st in the NHL in 5v5 scoring.

Curious where you got these numbers? I’ve got him at 61st during that span with 48 EV points and 32nd if you include all three seasons he’s been in Vancouver. He’s not going to be the #1 guy like he is in Vancouver but on most teams he’ll be at least the 2nd or 3rd most important forward. I’d say that’s much more valuable to a team than a defenseman that can move the puck and put up points but can’t defend.

Were you too young to remember how Yandle was regarded when he was with the Coyotes? He was seen as one of the premier PMD's in the league.
I can almost guarantee I’m older than you:laugh::(

It's feeling like JT Miller is the main target and Hertl will be the consolation prize. (Assuming at least Rags and Avs for this)

Miller seems available for sure, SJS still deciding on Hertl sort of thing.

I'd like to hear who you could realistically obtain that is 'better' for that price, lol. REALISTICALLY obtain, i.e fit within your cap.

How are you going to get 1C ability for what would amount to what a 3rd liner makes with maximum retention on Miller? For 1.5 seasons and 2 playoff runs.
