Daly confirmed that a potential winning bid “won’t rise or fall on whether he’s part of it,” while adding that Reynolds would be a “major asset” to any owners in Ottawa because of his high profile.

Brutal. USTs are a monstrous pain in the ass.

Usually shows up on a Phase I but not always. Might need invasive testing to discover it.

I'm also assuming there will be ongoing monitoring obligations following remediation? That's pricey and cumbersome as well.

They won't know until they get in there and take borings (has that already happened)?

If the contamination was really bad 60 years ago and then the land sat idle it's still going to be bad today.
I believe they can use GPR (ground penetrating radar) for underground tanks and such.

This summer will have construction in parking lot 5 and 9 to help facilitate traffic
If they want to help facilitate traffic, they have to have two police officers directing traffic leaving and trying to get out. it is that damn auto mall where everyone illegally parks that keeps everyone hemmed in like never before. It is incredibly frustrating...and I have valet. If I don't have valet, no way in hell do i get tickets

GPR doesn’t clean contaminants in the soil.
I didn't say GPR would clean contaminants. My post was about detecting storage tanks. I've been involved in many large infrastructure projects in the past with in which some common elements & scope to this (Lebreton) are involved.

Yes GPR can detect tanks, depending on depth of tanks.
Depth for GPR can vary depending on conductivity of the ground as well.
But I’m sure they will definitely scan it.

That's cool. What's the cost to scan a site?

Edit: No sarcasm. Genuinely interested.
Exact numbers, I don't know. Going from memory, not a lot as its electronic equipment & a small number of staff to walk the area and take the readings. I let the civil engineers worry about the soil remediation and such scope in the past LOL. There's no "heavy" equipment involved which is a factor in this subject.

Ya it’s like pushing a lawnmower around with a computer screen, except not motorized.

Doesnt say much if anything. Doesnt say how many bids or how long the process is going to take. I am sure there is an irrevocable on the offers. They wont just sit there forever. When there are multiple bids like this there is an expiry.
This is round 1 of bidding, final 5 or whatever it is . may up their bid in round 2.

What I find interesting. The surplus of 100 m Jeff York have accumulated can be move to the bidding winners

I have the feeling Bettman want the Remington Group but with Michael Andlauer just himself not with his group

Not feeling York or his group. At all. They sound like a bunch of home run hitters.

hmm, so Reynolds et al are not the best (i.e money, timing, whatever) bid, so NHL trying to make it happen.

The more deep pockets who have a stake in the team means the more stable the team will be. Also would make it harder to relocate it if a local group holds 20% or more etc…. Owners than elect a President of Hockey ops to make all hockey decisions
