The numbers don’t mean “nothing.” They just aren’t gospel.

In reality we struggled the vast majority of the year and that’s what those numbers reflect. It’s also unlikely that a team turns it around so dramatically mid year as it appears we may be in the process of doing, though it does occasionally happen.

It also is on the rarer side that a team has as many young players who will improve over the season, like we have.
Yea if it wasn't evident, I completely agree. I believe in the #s largely, they just require context.

That's why they are kind of useless though. They don't take a lot of other factors into context. It is not November and this current team is playing far better 5 on 5, and has added 4 NHL bodies at the deadline plus Kakko. Feel free to use those odds while betting.

That doesn't mean it's bad to look at 5v5 possession #s. It means it is foolish to do so in a vacuum while ignoring context. Two very different things IMO.

Finally released. MSG POST GAME SHOW HIGHLIGHTS AND COMMENTARY.

Glenn Anderson’s take on the Rangers playoff chances.

PLEASE TELL ME someone else watched this Glenn Anderson clip (either now or live last night) and listen to him be interviewed about the Rangers and come to see he hasn't watched a single Rangers game in the past decade LOL.

He gives the most generic answers (more than once) and when pressed for specific players that will step up in the playoffs...just rambles again and doesn't mention a single player. And again when asked about the trade deadline acquisitions. I was cracking up last night.

All that is for the off season. None of those things matter between now and when the Cup is handed out. I don't care in the least about anything other than the rest of this season. Why in any way shortchange now with thoughts of might be and what will we do?

I dunno, I like talking about roster building.

Lots of questions and talk about the atmosphere. This must the loudest the garden has been in years. Really excited to go to a game or two before the end of the season. I went to a late season game against Toronto in 2007 (April Fools day) and we beat them 7-2 and the garden was as loud as I ever heard it. I'm anticipating something similar the rest of the season. That Carolina game will be crazy.
Well, the garden hasn’t seen playoffs since 2017. It’s been a very long time and we’ve all been through a lot since then. Having something to root for is cathartic and I think the whole fan base feels it.

They aren’t useless, though, if they accurately encapsulate the majority of situations, which I think they do.

Just not our current one.

And I’ll add that I think we are playing slightly over our heads at the moment and that a Tiger rarely changes it’s stripes.

The deadline adds have fit like gloves and I’ll reiterate I hope we can sign Copp and Vatrano. But at the same time I’ll believe this team can win a seven game series against Carolina, Florida, Tampa, Colorado or Calgary when I see it.

Neither do I, but you can’t seem to grasp that no rebuild has ever been perfect, and neither is ours.

It is pretty damn good though
But you can’t seem to grasp that the last decade is full of teams who have showed us how to build multi cup winners.

So I wish people would stop with this red herring that I want something impossible. I want what like 4 other teams have showed us they can do, which is build a powerhouse multi cup winner.

In our situation and in fact most situations we need more young center depth. It doesn’t have to be “perfect.” We don’t need to go add Crosby and Malkin.

We have a glaring hole at young center though. We need two. And Kravtsov back. Then we’d be in pretty good shape.

And I think we are playing exactly to the talent that is on this team. They are a very good team. Whether they can beat the teams you mentioned remains to be seen but I have a feeling they are going to be a very tough out.

Our C depth isn't great but its BETTER than what chicago had in 2013 when they mowed the entire league down. They had Toews and nothing else. Zibanejad is on par with and arguably better than 2013 Toews.

we're not the 2013 blackhawks, but the point is that there is more than one way to skin a cat.

Would you like to be New Jersey? Because they have more young talent at C than we do.

You're so right. I wonder if he got paid a lot for the interview. Otherwise why would you embarrass yourself like that.

Every time I see posts like this without seeing the post I know my ignore game is spot on. Unreal how some people just prefer to be miserable, no matter how much this team wins or how they play.

Haha, but I have to remember that it was Ottawa and THAT Ottawa game.
it for sure was. That was smack dab in the middle of Andrew Hammonds miracle run.

Im also pretty sure that was the road trip that we beat a very good winnipeg jets team 3-2 on a late game goal by chris kreider. May have also been the same game that Dustin Byfuglien tried to kill JT Miller

Oh but they did change their stripes.

Thats what the deadline moves did. You can't just ignore them because you feel like it.

So funny coincidence in 2015 in the 73rd game, the Rangers beat Ottawa 5-1. Without cheating I would guess it was the game Glass scored.

"Cam Talbot didn't have a heavy workload tonight, but he made the saves he needed to make, and turned away 23 saves for his 20th win on the season. As surprising as this sounds, Tanner Glass also had one of his better games, and also notched his first goal of the season. Glass has understandably taken a ton of heat for his play during the season, but seeing him chip in his first as a Ranger was nice to see."
