We’re still ranked 20th in MoneyPuck power rankings & we have the worst odds of any team in (and even some out of) the playoffs. Vegas who isn’t in a playoff spot is more than twice as likely to win the Stanley cup, than we are they say lmao. They say LA has over 9 times greater chance of winning the cup than we do.
Those numbers mean nothing. They are laughable. I guess we should bet on the Rangers then. In reality the Rangers odds should easily be top 10.

Those stats are no doubt highly weighted towards the bulk of the season which was pre-TDL and the NYR performance was worse.

This is a completely different team now with the AHLers largely out of the lineup and the Panarin line firing 5v5 with Copp. Plus Miller growing leaps and bounds over the course of the season.

Run the MoneyPuck odds post-TDL and I guarantee they get much more favorable.

I wonder if the Canes play their ridiculous pressure style on the road like they do at home and if they still play that style or the grind caught up with them.

I think the NYR D has improved a lot and they will be able to neutralize the Canes transition game, especially at home. I’ve also been saying for weeks that I’m not sold on their D against a heavy forecheck.

We’ll see how much of their punk antics will come out with Reaves in the lineup as well

Their as in the Canes' D or the Rangers' D?

The prevailing mood here has gone from I hope we can win one round to we're headed on a deep run.

Will be interesting to see the mood after the upcoming Carolina game, depending on that result.

Reaves doesn't affect antics.

No player affects antics.

Reaves was in the lineup against TB and there was a major antic. He didn't prevent it. All he can do is fight, after the fact.

What does Vegas oddsmakers say?

MoneyPuck system is based on 5v5 xG. We have been bad up until the TDL. It's rare for a team to be bottom of the barrel 5v5 then catapult to the top. It shows the flaws in advance stats.

It's just great to be back in the dance. The Letter, the Rebuild, moving a bunch of players that you really liked for futures.

It's been a rough few years trying to get this right. Who to keep, who to let go. Are we rushing prospects or not pushing them enough. Do we have the right coach.

All that talk is done. The team has shown they have kept the right players, add the right young guys, and moved on to the right coach.

It's now time to begin the really fun part of this. No more lotto balls. It's time to win. Doesn't matter what anyone else says. This team is at the big kids table and they've got a chance.

I'm seeing +1800 to win the cup. 9th best odds. 7th best in the East. Only Washington is lower. So the Pens are higher odds in spite of their dominance over them and their slide down the standings.

It might take a while for Vegas to catch up too. One thing they have caught up on is that they are now +240 to win the Metro. More likely just a points and games remaining thing. Got in on it during the summer at +525. Hoping my wallet gets a boost before May

this is what I got... It's fair but I expect us to rise a bit. We haven't made the playoffs in 5 years... in that context, it's spectacular

I see us joining the Tampa, Carolina, Toronto tier

Well said, this is the most fun I've had watching a Rangers team since 2014/2015. They have been a pleasure to watch. No quit in this team, many comeback wins, Kreider career year and breaking Rangers records. An extremely successful trade deadline to supplement the team with the right pieces without giving up any core players. They can make some noise in the playoffs.

Might have to bet on us, I’m one of the more pessimistic ones regarding our play but I think these people are underrating us. Igor is a huge wild card and could steal a round himself. We’re a team that I think had a high ceiling and low floor. Wouldn’t be shocked if we get swept first round and wouldn’t be shocked if we make the finals.

Why though? Up until this season, you’ve been the eternal optimist. What changed?

I don't want to be a downer lol but I think we look worse than we have the past 2 seasons. We were a high flying offensive team and this season we get hemmed in our own zone the entire game and we've been as boring as any team not named the Isles this season if I'm being honest. Things have certainly changed since the deadline though, but who knows how many of those players we'll be able to keep past this year. I'm a person who likes flash, and loud, bombastic personalities. I think we've created a very milquetoast team reminiscent of our 2010's teams, casting off the guys with "fun" personalities and swagger to them (DeAngelo, Lemieux, Buch, Kravtsov). I find the team overall a lot less likeable now. Watch their interviews, Trouba, Zibanejad, Copp, Fox, all these guys have the personality of a towel & can barely carry a conversation. Just extremely boring humans. No pulse to them. Panarin, Igor & Reaves are very likeable to me but the first two barely speak English and then Reaves is a 4th liner. Just not a fan of the overall direction Drury has taken. He is of a very different school of thought than myself, I think offense is more important than defense, I think skating is the most important attribute in hockey and it's almost as if Drury purposely targets players who can't skate. I value flashiness and players that lift fans out of their seats, I think the entertainment value is a big part of hockey. Kakko & Laf are massively underwhelming yet again and are not looking like they're even going to come close to their pre-draft hype.

For all of the hype that the Canes get they've only scored 13 more goals than us this season (albeit in 1 less game). If we had Copp and Vatrana all year we'd probably be toe to toe at minimum. Their slight advantage in goals given up is a nonfactor since that can be directly attributed to Georgiev who hopefully won't see the ice in the playoffs

Both teams have nearly identical home and road records. To me the two teams are pretty damn even and I can easily see it going 7 games.

Boston has been hot lately but I think we match up extremely well against them. I think we wipe the floor with Washington. Tampa, despite not being anywhere near as dominant as in prior years scares me because they know what it takes to win whereas a good chunk of the players on our team have never even played a playoff game.

Florida is absolutely terrifying - Rangers will need to really dig deep to get past them. If they can do it though that would be one hell of an accomplishment

I kinda looked forward to Goodrow between Laf and Kakko, sort of like a big brother situation. And after seeing Goodrow centering the organization's prized possessions, and, well, I saw enough. He's not one for the job. When Chytil gets back, let's get the Kids Line going. Goodrow has zero offensive instincts.

Ya one game with kakko just returning from injury should be enough time to make judgement on that.

We just have a hard time with Carolina's speed and tenacity. Maybe the new additions help or maybe just the fact that our d are more willing to dump it out might make things better but this d core has had a tough time with the Hurricanes forwards.
