Pretty shameful display by Canada, looked like they sleepwalked for almost the full second and third periods. On the other hand, very great effort by USA. Outplayed Canada in the game and deserved the win from what I saw. I hope that they can win bronze, and I look forward to whichever year sees USA win this tournament with a D level team.

When Canada tried usa had no answer. The problem is they did look like they were standing around way too much. :shakehead they don't have much chance against Finland if they do it again

McDavid tied for 2nd in assists at this tournament and gets **** on

O Canada.

McDavid is doing okay. I wish he had more goals and pts. but he doesn't...

If he nets a few in the GMG, it will just be a bonus.

BTW. when Malkin was 19 he played in this tournament as well. 9 games 0 goals 4 assists and a bronze medal. He turned out pretty good for a generational superstar.

Canada was sloppy but they put some work in when they had to. The skill level difference was very visible when they're going for a goal.

To me it looked like they run out of gas with fast USA team. Team USA looked like more athletic team when Team Canada looked like more skilled.

The problem is some teams look or the gold medal game or bust. Sometimes the bronze game is a total bust because one team has stopped caring.

This US squad will play hard tomorrow. If Russia wants to lay down cause the game doesn't matter much to them, Team USA will gladly take the bronze

When Ceci was with Murray they were the top pair, played the most best plus minus, corsi, scoring etc. Hockey canada wanted Ellis up there i guess. Politics over success unless its best on best par for the course team canada.

....

Pleasant surprise that Rielly was voted but come on lmao.

USA outplayed Canada for the most part. They better play better than this or Finland will just score a goal or two and just choke it down.

Please win against Finland. They play a style of hockey that is extremely boring despite having so much talent on the team.

"You guys" "regardless of reality"

Look up the word "specific"

I've seen a few people push the "arrogant Canadian" narrative in this thread, but I haven't seen a whole lot of this supposed arrogance. Maybe I'm not the one who needs to look words up.

Ellis looks like a mini Viking. He's always so solid for Canada internationally.

Rielly and Tanev have been the top pairing all tournament long. Shutting down top lines, killing penalties, maintaining possession etc.

It would be pretty amazing if we could find a way to get Tanev...his game just works so nicely with Rielly. I doubt we can get him but Benning is the GM, at least try to get him Leafs :naughty:.

Yeah, that's how I see it too.

The USA kids really played a great game today, worked supper hard, showed their skill and teamwork, normally that leads to a win.

You must have missed the sarcasm in the post.

O Canada.

I don't think he's getting **** on, he can be a lot better than what he's shown. That's how special he is, he didn't have a great game and still managed to impact the scoreboard. IMO, he will be the best player in the NHL before his ELC ends.

I am expecting a huge game from him in the Finals. He's a truly special player, he will rise to the occasion and make sure the gold stays in Canada.

I'm also happy it wasn't a blowout win for Canada, usa definitely made the game fun to watch. Just hope Canada blows out Finland and USA russia. That larkin / matthews line needs to play more

One of these years the US will have the right combo of players to battle for Gold.

Pulling for Canada tomorrow.

No, they one again did the classic, silly Canadian strategy of getting a lead and sitting back at 2-0 and 4-3. The Ken Hitchcock special from those tournaments in 2008 and 2009. It rarely works at these IIHF tournaments. In contrast, when Canada was pushing for offense they scored two goals relatively quickly twice in the game.

I know at this tournament Canada doesn't have the same caliber of players, but Canada in Sochi 2014 was a perfect example of how to dictate 60 minutes of hockey regardless of the score. Keep possession of the puck, force your opponents to defend, and they never can get back in the game.

This. If they have tried couple of more minutes It would have been at least 7-3.

oh dear lord..

they tried with all they had, they simply got outworked, outplayed, and outhustled by a younger hungry team...

Canada is clearly a better team, but you have to play the games and both teams gave it their all...saying anything but is pure ignorance and stupidity.
