The USA played them tough and 1 game shot's are a different animal. Easy for you to sit on your couch and rip them . Give the Americans credit. At the end of the day Canada is in the final for a 2nd consequtive year. We have a very young team and like all young hockey teams, things will go sideways at times. They collected themselves and rallied, that is a sign of a good team. Faced adversity and fought through it !

I give the Americans credit for playing as well as they could, good for them and they should be proud about they way they played considering the absolute lack of talent they had.

But considering the roster the Americans had, even the US at their best should be easily beat by 5 or 6 goals by this Canadian team if they actually play like they give a damn. Instead the Canadians lazily skated around like it was a pre-game skate and we see a 1 goal game based solely on the lack of effort from Team Canada.

As it was said earlier in the thread it'll be on your local Comcast Sports Net channel[CSN Chicago Plus in the Chicago area]

But many cities don't even get CSN so much of nation is shut out! NHL/Hockey broadcasting stupidity strikes again!

They were never the top pair. Rielly and Tanev were the top pair for the whole tournament. They faced against the top competition the whole time and it says a lot that when defending the lead, Peters decides to put Rielly and Tanev out there in the last minutes. Murray played excellent, he was a warrior out there. Ceci was awful in this game and has been pretty bad since the games started getting important.
Oh stop with this nonsense:shakehead

Game was great, I really like what I see in Matthews for the US. Can't wait till the Olympics when hopefully they can roll out deep 'C' depth to mix with there already great calibre American wingers (Kane/Kessel).

Hopefully Canada can pull it off against Finland, I'm really liking the D pairing of Tanev/Rielly. Here's hoping they can shutdown the Finns tomorrow

oh dear lord..

they tried with all they had, they simply got outworked, outplayed, and outhustled by a younger hungry team...

Canada is clearly a better team, but you have to play the games and both teams gave it their all...saying anything but is pure ignorance and stupidity.

USA is a better team based on the sum of their parts, Canada is the lesser team based on the sum of their parts.

What a game, Toronto is going to have a hell of a player with Mathews....he was impressive.

I got a feeling Finland will take us tomorrow though, They look so tight defensively.

No, they one again did the classic, silly Canadian strategy of getting a lead and sitting back at 2-0 and 4-3. The Ken Hitchcock special from those tournaments in 2008 and 2009. It rarely works at these IIHF tournaments. In contrast, when Canada was pushing for offense they scored two goals relatively quickly twice in the game.

I know at this tournament Canada doesn't have the same caliber of players, but Canada in Sochi 2014 was a perfect example of how to dictate 60 minutes of hockey regardless of the score. Keep possession of the puck, force your opponents to defend, and they never can get back in the game.

Yes, this is the main issue, and you are especially right about Hitchcock. He really did give away the 2008 tournament in particular, but it provided a bit of a lesson for Hockey Canada going forward. The disappointing thing about this performance is that the Canadian team played the proper way, as you described, at the tournament last year.

Seems to me Dave Cameron has more of his fingerprints on TC's defensive strategy...and if that's the case then that explains a lot.

That very thought crossed my mind in the second period. This time he oversaw the collapse a bit earlier and the team managed to play for about five minutes and get the goals back.

It wouldn't surprise me if Cameron has his hands on the defensive strategy in some way.

The way Canada collapsed this game was very Cameron like.

Canada just tried to save energy for tomorrow match (when score was 2-0). That strategy usually works maybe a bit later though and it backfired. That doesn't take anything away from Usa since they were great and deserved to go to lead. I would have preferred OT still though.

Better won as always.

How about if they moved Reilly down after his lacklustre start to the tourney ?? Didnt happen ,Ceci gets bumped for what??leading the team in defense scoring??

???

Rielly has been solid all tournament long which is why he remains Team Canada's ice time leader regardless of him being moved off the PP. I think he was even double shifted a few times in the third period of this game. It just shows how much they counted on him. Rielly and Tanev have been great all along. Hopefully Ceci can step it up in the Gold Medal game. We will need all hands on deck if we're gonna have a chance to defend against the Finnish depth.

I agree, Rielly is so young yet looks great. Also, Ellis is amazing, the guy can hold the line like no one on this team.

Canada came back from a deficit and won the second half of the game 2-0. That's the important thing. The Americans were unable to score as they lacked finishers and the Canadian coaching staff knew that. The strategy was to keep them to the outside and not let them break in off the rush and it wouldn't matter how much zone time they had. It seems like the coaching staff is preparing them to beat Finland at their own game. Even the Russians could not beat the Finns with all-out offence, so it's a reasonable strategy. We'll see how good Canada is at being grinders tomorrow. I am betting pretty good.
