US was much weaker from minute 7 to minute 50. Russia had a lot of glorious chances and it felt that if the US goalie did not play out of his mind it could have been 5:1, he really kept US in the game. It was hard to believe that Russia outskated, outplayed and outskilled a team that was supposed to be filled with a superior talent, at least that's what we hear from NHL scouting people. In any case the cockiness of the US coach was really bizzare, I can't remember the last time a North American coach would be behaving this way.

I don't think US was much weaker. They had a lot of chances, hit post couple times. Overall it was equal game. But in a same time I don't think that team Russia played in full strength. In the third they just protected the lead.

I don't have a horse in the race either way, so it doesn't matter who wins. Russia is playing for the Gold and the US for the bronze, simple as that. both teams did not look good today.

Right, so why did you say you hope Russia gets destroyed? This implies you seemingly do care. But whatever, this is just trolling, I'm out of this.

I prefer skill over crap system play, so I know Finland will beat Russia easily tomorrow. no troll, don't care who wins, just hope the team with less talent loses....which they will.

Why mocking Denmark:facepalm:? They did a great tournament.

they played excellent, they deserve a ton of respect. Russia looked like Denmark to me in how they played, and their system...how is that mocking..

This group of Russians was simply not that skilled and relied on system and team play to win...good for them, they did and on to the Gold game they go...but they looked a lot like Denmark to me something most Russian fans cant admit. Russia dominated nothing and looked average, the US just happen to look even worse today..hahaha.

More talented squad already had 6 goals in their net in the game with Russia. You can't score 6 goals against future finalist without skill. Right?

talent doesn't always win in a best of 1 series....lets see what happens if you played them 3 times for the Gold.

as I said I always hope for the most skilled team to win, and yes Russia won once lets see what the outcome is tomorrow and see if skill prevails which I hope it does,

Team US lost 3 straight playoff games to Russia in last three WJCs. Does it mean US talents much less talented than Russian talents?

With talient but without mentality of winner, without will to turn around party, without will to comeback p Sweden and Us shows that to us. If their talient did not allow them to win - so they have lack of talient to win against- it just too simple:yo:

we had less talent last year no doubt...year prior is a toss up but skill vs skill was on display. this year was two teams playing against each other where the less crappy team won..it was not a golden win or great win, mediocre game played by two teams that simply looked scared out there. I never root for Finland, ever...will be now.

I don't really root for some team on this kind of Junior tournaments, even for Russia. But I like when young players play with a heart and do hard work to win games. And I really think that all of them talented. Kids without talent don't play on this level. If they show a lot of talent now it doesn't mean that they will be successful on a pro level later, especially if they can score dozens of goals against moderate teams and can't score more than 1 against as you said team with a system. So in my opinion at this point both teams in finals have skill, talent and passion for hockey. So winner tomorrow will need to put in to the win something more than just a talent.

I know we're all upset but you gotta give Russia some credit. They got the job done. There is a reason they are undefeated. They played with a lot of heart and executed. This was a talented US team but Russia is never a slouch and they got the job done.

Oh I'm not upset, was cheering for Russia actually. I never underestimate them either, it will never surprise me to see Russia win any match in international competition.

Been watching the replays for the goals - what does 'koksi jüksi' mean in Finnish? :D

Since it's the internet and I'm not sure whether or not this is an actual question or a joking remark, I will just answer that it means "2-1" and it's actually "Kaksi (two) yksi (one)".

Hope for a great match tomorrow! :)

The game was a lot closer than it should have been but good to the see the much more talented team came out ahead.

Sometimes in these single game elimination tournaments the lesser team can win but Russia came through with a win.

Hard to see them beating Finland if the Finns continue to get the reffing help that they have received all tournament long but if it is a fair game then the Russians should cruise to victory.

Russia played with a great deal of desperation to protect the lead. That and their goaltending was flawless. The 2nd goal for Russia came from poor D by Werenski and goaltending. Russia didnt make those mistakes.

Was really impressed with the Russian defenseman as the game wore on. Whether or not who anyone thinks had the most talent, Russia came out from the 2nd period on and beat the US to the puck with consistency.

It's not about what the fans think. I bet most of those kids will very much appreciate a bronze medal. Might not be immediately but a while or after their careers they sure will. For some this will be the biggest event of their career.

And also for smaller hockey nations it's memorable, like for Slovakia last year.

Yup. For the teams that care about each other, one more game together will be a big deal. Not all these kids will go on to greater things... For some of them a Bronze World Junior medal will be the highlight of their hockey playing career.

It's a test of character for the coaches, and kids.
