You'd have a point if Ron Wilson knew Sun Tzu's name.

He he, I think the point still stands, whatever Ron Wilson might know or not know.

Not caring about the opposition because we are so, SO (we mean it!), focused on winning!... That is kindergarten stuff, rich as I do not know.

I sincerely doubt Wilson was serious. In any case, why say something like that? He just makes himself look silly. Did he think he was playing a clever mind game?

He's been making stupid comments all tournament. I hope he enjoyed it, because it's fairly certain his last meaningful coaching gig will be tomorrow.

as the TSN announcer stated prior to the start of the US / Russia game, Wilson just speaks to hear himself speak.

He will likely never been seen in any high level of hockey again....and that is a good thing for ALL hockey.

pretty garbage of a game if you ask me compared to many other past USA vs Russia games.

this Russian team was one of the least skilled teams I have seen from them in years, their defensive zone trap was abysmal and their offensive play even though they got shots on goal was hardly anything noteworthy. This team looked like Denmark out there relying on a system instead of skill, which I still cant believe I have witnessed.

the US team looked scared, lost, afraid, disinterested, whatever words you can describe. so much skill with so little fire in their belly. they left a lot of skill at home and now have to answer for it. this team had the talent to win the gold, but now laughably go to a bronze medal game with a group that simply **** the bed. blame coaching, blame the GM, blame whoever, but this game was not nearly as good as it should have been and I am more disappointed in a lackluster game than team USA losing.

Finland wins this Gold easily, and rightfully so as skill should win, especially when your skill has heart...ours simply did not as Matthews went invisible and our captain looked like our worst dman at times.

I am changing over to soccer now, cant take this **** anymore.

Sun Tzu some 1000 years ago:

That's funny, this exact thing from the art of war occurred to me after hearing that Wilson interview clip acting so smug.

Not only a disrespectful thing to say, also just plain bad strategy and preparation for any kind of competition against an opponent.

I honestly couldn;t care less re: his comments about TC yesterday, they were true enough, but that bit about "..don't know anything about any of the Russian players, do you?..." today, wow! Talk about piling pressure on your team whose players were prob feeling enough pressure as it was, not to mention giving added motivation to the Russians.

Unless they did prepare and scout for Russia and he was just being a dick as a way of playing mind games or something? Why wouldn't you want to know who their stronger, weaker players are, different tendencies, style of play, etc.

Really? So the second Russian goal is not a skill play?

I know we're all upset but you gotta give Russia some credit. They got the job done. There is a reason they are undefeated. They played with a lot of heart and executed. This was a talented US team but Russia is never a slouch and they got the job done.

Well every team had a let down game so to speak. USA picked the worst one and worst time to have it. Call me nuts but i saw their lack of interest at times playing the Czechs. The score didn't show it, but watch the game over and you'll see how disinterested they were playing like they can turn it on and off at any time. They were so just cavalier like it was a practice.

It was akin to the Denmark-Russian game. Once Russia realized oh **** we better start playing because we might lose they just dominated.

Yeah, respect back to team US - your offence was difficult to deal with! Good luck in your Bronze Medal match up, Sweden are also extremely worthy opponents :D.

In all honesty, I think Wilson was just trolling, you can be sure he knew everythign about every Russian kid on the ice, that's his job :D. It's just PR.

US didn't have enough depth. Bottom six did absolutely nothing. Shut down Matthews, you shut down the team. Werenski was playing like garbage today and he was still out every other shift because there's nobody else.

Yup. I think lack of depth did us in this year, just like last year. Still, if Werenski had played this game like he did earlier ones in the tournament, I think the US wins. He was the #1 suspect on one of Russia's goals, and he missed that practically empty net on the late PP. It's a shame today had to be his off day. Really not enthused about playing for bronze.

I didn't stutter when I typed....without a doubt one of the least skilled teams I have seen from this nation. one lucky play doesn't change that. they won, and now I hope they get destroyed which they should by a more talented squad. the US team sucked royal ass today, good for Russia realizing they didn't have to do much to win.

Least skilled Russian teams? If you watched the game, you would've seen that these 'unskilled' Russian players were winning a lot of the battles along the boards, intercepting pucks, creating chances, etc. Nothing 'unskilled' about this team Russia. Maybe they don't have a Bure or Ovechkin in their midst, yes, but, what's even more important for success, they play as a solid unit and every line is dangerous and hungry for goals. And that's extremely important.

Hoping for bad things to happen to Team Russia often leads to the opposite :D.

More talented squad already had 6 goals in their net in the game with Russia. You can't score 6 goals against future finalist without skill. Right?

In all fairness i think a bronz medal means more to this teams than it dose to can, usa, swe, rus, fin

But i get your point of view!

:handclap:

Thats a matter of shape of your system. Since 96 Sweden 11 years without medal. I bet they would have love to see that bronze plate.

Only one who can have this attitude is Canada imo, with three OG golds. The rest is nowhere near close to soccer Brazil and the gold ,even silver is definetely not a lock for them....

You also wouldnt be listed on wiki which automatically classify you to bunch of loosers:D

Absolutely amazing, what a tool.

Congrats to the Russian, they definitely earned it!

Oh my lord, it seems Wilson actually meant it. Seems to be some kind of russophobe, that's the only way I can explain it. The US deserves a better person for a coach.

Dose it itche your eyes that bronz game isnt that important for swedes and american that it is for you guys? Dident you forget Germany in football:sarcasm:?

US was much weaker from minute 7 to minute 50. Russia had a lot of glorious chances and it felt that if the US goalie did not play out of his mind it could have been 5:1, he really kept US in the game. It was hard to believe that Russia outskated, outplayed and outskilled a team that was supposed to be filled with a superior talent, at least that's what we hear from NHL scouting people. In any case the cockiness of the US coach was really bizzare, I can't remember the last time a North American coach would be behaving this way.

Well most announcers were saying Russia isn't a highly skilled team, but more a balanced team than in previous years. This tournament for the most part seems to be Swe,fins, russians and the Americans was a tossup. What team is going to show up in the Gold medal game? It really is a roll of the dice, but it was definitely team USA let down game of the tournament. Good luck.
