I believe Aho should be in the conversation. However, the front runner right now is Patty Kane. If he manages to carry Chicago to the playoffs, he is my #1 candidate. As far as Kucherov goes, Tampa's real MVP is Vasilevskliy. He changes the entire dynamic of the games. It's hard to be in Heart conversation when you are may not be the most valuable player on your team. I would have Kuch as the frontrunner for the Lindsay.

When your team is +70 in the goal department and easily leading the league in offense, your MVP is not your goalie.

Aho probably wasn't even on most teams list in the second round. I remember CAR taking some flack for reaching with that pick, and hearing comments after the pick, like "Who?". Thank you, Joni!

I think he was though. I realize it's hindsight, but Babcock came out later and said they considered taking Aho there. At the draft, it was reported that NJ really wanted Aho and when the Canes selected him, they then traded out of their pick. A few NJ fans scoffed at that notion at the time, but I believed it.

In theory, you are 100% correct. In reality, their MVP is Vasi. The confidence they have on the rush, not worrying about mistakes, that all stems from the Big Cat in goal.

Have you looked at how the guys he plays with were playing before he became the stud that he is? Kucherov's got an 18 point lead on everyone else on his team and practically resurrected Stamkos. The Hart convo begins and ends with him at this point. If someone overtakes him, that might change, but right now it's easily a one man race for the Hart.

It doesn't begin and end with him. He's one of a handful of players that will be under heavy consideration.

Kucherov.

MVP should be the best player in the league that year. Kucherov can be at a 100 points within a few games and the Lightning already have 90 points...3 more wins and they could ice an AHL roster for 20+ games and lose every single one of them and still make the playoffs lol.

The biggest difference between Hall last year and Aho this year is that Hall finished 6th in scoring (and McDavid missed the playoffs, so he was only 9 points back of the highest playoff finisher) and T9 in goals.

This year Aho is currently T14 in scoring (T33 in goals) and is already 26 points back of the scoring leader.

I'd also say Carolina has a significantly lower chance to make it than Chicago, and if Chicago makes it, Kane wins the Hart.

Hall won it with exact same qualifications as the ones Aho has, assuming that the Canes make the playoffs. If they dont then thats it.

Big difference, Hall was borderline top-5 (6th in points), and that's with a good chunk of missed games too. On top of that, he literally carried a team to the playoffs where the second guy on the team was 41 points behind him.

Some may have, but I clearly remember a lot of people saying we reached with the pick.

if Hurricanes make the playoffs, Aho will have to be in the conversation for the Hart trophy. Other than Mcdavid, there's probably no other team that relies so heavily on their top forward.

Aho is definitely overshadowing the other Finns from his draft year this year. Good on him I say, always liked his play style and determination.

I think Aho's skillset of skating and puck control are awesome but he always seems to be in the right spot offensively and defensively which attest to his high hockey IQ. It'll be interesting how much his offensive stats will be boosted once he has an offensively skilled center to play with.
